Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

In reference, the G stem is same size as a metropolitan stem, and a dio zx stem, in terms of stem length and width of fork spacing but I believe you could use wheels up to 3" wide with any of these stems. I have also seen the G stem used without mods on an se50. Above was a quote from Bones on ...

In this thread, Bones mentions how the Metro stem will fit the se50 with NO modification. If this true, I may be in business! Can I shove disc legs into the Met stem? Sweet!

Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50?

My Metro donor bike was seized. It took a breaker bar with extension just to get it to spin the crank. Was able to salvage the stem and other odds n ends so Im leaning towards doing a stem swap in the SE50. What process am I looking at with this? Cutting/welding/fabbing? I see tons of info on met st...

Re: making a gas can out of a keg.

I swear I saw a build thread on here where he had a tiny keg strapped to his rear rack and plumbed in. Also saw one where the guy used a go-kart tank in the same fashion. The go-kart tank is on ebay for $100 or so.

Re: Anyone do a Metro motor swap into a Spree?

The bike definitely spent some time horizontal on both sides. Plastics are trashed as well as turn signals, brake levers, etc. I look past all that surface damage and see a decent bike underneath. Once I assess the cost of all parts needed to get this back together, I'll make the decision on whether...

Re: Anyone do a Metro motor swap into a Spree?

For those that haven't had much experience on a Met (me) the bolt you see just below the cross member is the motor mount point. Im still trying to figure out the braking system, how you pull one handbrake and it squeezes both front/rear brakes but the other handbrake only pulls one. If anyone has a ...

Re: Anyone do a Metro motor swap into a Spree?

OK, the met-spree swap is not happening. The mounts are completely different. Youd have to perform miracles to get it to hook up. I now have an 06' Met in the garage and its in the tear-down phase. This is a totally different animal than the 80's-90's Sprees and Elites. I have my work cut-out for me...

A glovebox is roughly 13"x10". Your printer has to be the size of a refrigerator!....pics or it didn't happen.

Re: Spree Petcock covers

I looked at 3d printers also...one large enough to do a glovebox is nearly $10k...you could buy a 3d printer for $200 if you wanna make buttons all day.

Re: Anyone do a Metro motor swap into a Spree?

I was thinking of a custom tank. Yeah, I know itd be expensive as heII but to remove the oil reservoir and use that space with a larger tank. Youd probably get a 1 gallon tank after its all done and getting 100mpg on the Met motor would seriously increase your per-tank travel distance. Relocating th...

Re: Spree Petcock covers

I looked into injection molding for petcock covers, gloveboxes, etc....Price per unit is pocket change but you have to purchase the mold before you can go into production. The mold STARTS at about $3000 and can get as much as $5000. Depending on quality of materials used to make the mold and how man...
