Re: New member from France with a 1986 Aero 50

It's almost warm here in England so will get my Cagiva Navigator out for a picture along with the Vision soon. Did you by any chance take pictures of the old / new variator ramp plates side by side?

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug

It's quite likely that there's a fair amount of carbon built up inside which would account for a few MPH, but the big clue is '30MPH' printed on the ID plate. This is what allows it to be classed as a 'moped' in the UK so it can be driven by 16 year olds and people with a car licence. There's a rest...

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug

Just starting out on the same quest to squeeze a few more mph from my '85 Vision when I came across this thread. I'm wondering if anyone has found a restricting spacer in the variator from a UK Vision with an AF05E motor? I can only get about 27mph but from what I've read elsewhere I should be able ...

Re: 1985 AF05 What top speed should I expect?

I think that I must have the UK equivalent of an Elite, apologies for the earlier misdirection. Mine has a Variator as opposed to the direct drive of the Spree.
I have this one, but in blue:

Re: 1985 AF05 What top speed should I expect?

Thanks for the info, I got the impression that 30 mph was about standard, so it's good to get confirmation that mine is in the right ballpark. The final drive ratio is interesting but not sure if I'll be able to source different gears in the UK, or what the existing ratio is. Same is maybe true of t...

1985 AF05 What top speed should I expect?

Just wondered what kind of top speed is normal? I have a 1985 Honda Vision (UK) and it seems to top out at 25-27mph according to the speedo. This is about what I'd expect from what's called a 'moped' in the UK and is restricted to 30mph. Thing is that I can't find any restrictions in the header and ...

Re: High idle issues

Interesting, didn't realise that you can get the slide in backwards! When I first got my scoot, it hadn't been running for about 5 years and took a while to start but ran ok once started so I drained the tank and cleaned out the carb. The carb was clean and after flushing the tank I put it all back ...

Re: Starter motors

I'd be interested to know if the LT80 brushes fit too. On this side of the pond, they are available as part of the LT80 kit, shame the rest of it is apparently the wrong parts. A few months ago I changed the brushes on may car's starter, the difference in cold weather was like night and day. Many pe...

Paint Colour Matching PB-3C ?

I have a blue 1985 UK Vision, from looking at parts fiche for various panels I think the colour I'm after is PB-3C Candy Saphire Blue. I'm looking for some rattle can spray paint to go over some repairs to the front mudguard and wondered if that colour has a match or close match that anyone knows of...

Re: Drive Belt Spec 23100-GN2-003?

Greetings: Belt width and length are both critical to take full advantage of the Continuously Variable Transmission featured on your Euro Aero equivalent. (Tact? Vision Met-In?) The stock, original belt should measure 15.5mm wide when new, and the Bando manufacturer made them to last until worn. Ev...

Re: Honda Dio only runs when....

Perhaps the bystarter is jammed? If you let it idle for 5 mins does it run ok then? If not maybe you have a jet blocked in the carb.

Re: Running rich low down

I'm guessing the bystarter was causing the rich running, did you try the 18mm belt back on? From a 2013 Dayco catalogue, the DIO belt is 18mm standard from 1991 onwards (p/n 7173). Just curious how that affects your top speed. Looks like the DIO uses the AF18E motor? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho...

Re: Drive Belt Spec 23100-GN2-003?

From another thread I found the oem sized belt may be (654x15x30). There's a Dayco equivalent (7171) that's 652x30 & cross references to the Honda p/n so am guessing that's just about close enough. Sorry, but this is my first belt drive engine & I'm not sure how critical the belt length &...
