Re: stock AF05E max RPM?

What would then be the max RPM? Max RPM is most dependent on the carburetor size and exhaust pipe. You wouldn't believe what happens to the RPM if you install a bigger carb, increase the jet size by 50% and remove the air filter. You could fly through 12,000 RPM in the blink of an eye. And blow the...

Re: can someone break down aftermakret carbs?

The easiest is to swap the stock 14mm Keihin for the 18mm Keihin. Everything fits, right out of the box, except that you need to drill the stub for the oil pump feed into the throttle slide. It's easy to do with a handheld 1/8" drill, finish off with a .18mm modeler's drill bit. the 18mm bore i...

Re: Drilling out exhaust on the side attached to engine

the stock (68?) jet can no longer supply sufficient fuel to keep up with significantly increased mixture demand The stock unrestricted jet is #75, and that should be OK without adding oil to the mix. No harm in adding oil, but if it's running too oily, you can cut back on the mix. Too much oil neve...

Re: Kymco zx-50 question

The Kymco is a Dio engine on a long case (12" wheel). It's geared plenty fast right out of the box with the 12" wheel. No need to do anything.

I've got Ruima 50mm parts from http://www.jiangwayne.com/scooter/p_i.php?i=58 You can email questions to scooter@jiangwayne.com. Parts arrive in about 10 days. He photographs the entire shipment before packing and sends the photos with the tracking number.

Re: Spree Kickstart doesn't catch

I'm guessing that the starter ratchet gear (on the end of the starter ring gear shaft/crankshaft) is missing. I don't see it in your pics. It's a routine service item that can wear out. It looks something like this:

Re: Weak Spark On My 85 Spree. Where Do I Start?

I've never heard of 50 psi compression being high enough to run 90 psi maybe. Just remember: you heard it here first. What I said was _IF_ you can get it started with 50psi (that's a big IF), it will run OK, although a bit gutless. Down to about 70psi it should start with the electric start, but th...

Do I need to ask this: Is the spark plug tightened properly? If the plug is loose it will make a funny noise before it works its way loose.

I order parts from JiangWayne, and they arrive pretty quick, about a week from Taiwan. They photograph the shipment as it's packed and send you the photos with the tracking #. They have several stroker crank BBK packages here: http://www.jiangwayne.com/scooter/p_tags.php?t=56&p=5

Re: Piston issue + lean issue for the experts

Regular gas, lean mixture, WOT downhill (high rpms) will really overheat your unit. The way your motor comes from the factory, it runs cool at maybe 8,000rpm max. But if you open it up on both ends and wind it up to 10,000+rpm, you can really bake it. 2-strokes need more oil and richer mixture at hi...

Re: Exhaust Gasket for Spree

It sounds like you're way over-tightening the exhaust flange nuts. Most of the weight is carried by the muffler support bracket, and the flange nuts are only a little more than hand-tightened with a 10mm socket on a 1/4" drive (not too much muscle). It helps to put some Copper Loctite Never Sei...

Re: Weak Spark On My 85 Spree. Where Do I Start?

Do the O-rings play that big of a part here, and being like this, shouldn't it still fire up when primed through the spark plug hole? Here's my check list: There's only 1 o-ring on the bystarter, it goes in the lower of the 2 slots. You shouldn't need to squirt fuel in the plug hole. It's easier to...

Re: New to this forum... and have some questions

In Canada, there's lots of performance parts for the AF18E Dio since that was the model most sold in Canada. So, there's gears, and BBKs and carb options, and many parts will fit your Elite. Craigslist Vancouver is full of used Dios, sometimes sold real cheap for parts, sometimes real expensive hot-...
