PimpinSpree, I want to look at the failure mode if a regulator is killed by a reverse polarity battery connection. And once failed, is there a DC path from battery though the stator. Might that path burn out the stator coil? I would include the information gained in explanations and things to check ...

PimpinSpree, Thanks very much for your help, and sorry for your troubles. If you find you need a regulator, I'd be happy to trade a good reg for your bad reg. If your fuse blows again after charging and connecting the battery up, unplug the regulator, and replace the fuse 'one more time'. Having the...

PimpinSpree, >> Pay attention to the polarity when you hook up the battery. Yes, that's good advice, seems there is not built in protection. Couple questions. I've been following and helping some members after a reversed battery. Seems it can cause several problems. Hopefully, you didn't see all the...

Rather than adding a pushbutton kill switch: You can have a single toggle switch activate the +12v when and remove the connection to shut the engine off. You need to change from your 2 term switch to one with 6. This will be a Double Pole, Double Throw switch (DPDT). Wire the +12v battery line to th...

1) Since the bolt was not seized in position, it will should take very little torque to remove. If there's a bit sticking out after you remove the cyl, cut a slot with a Dremel tool mounted up with a cutoff wheel. Align your cut tangent to the bore. That way if you slip or cut too deep (into the cas...

Motorcycle speedo would likely be calibrated differently. The gears driving the cable, and the resistance spring inside the speedometer need to both be designed and adjusted to match the tire circumference. The odometer calibration needs to be considered too. Maybe someone who repairs speedometers c...

If you have no measuring tools around but can get it to a machine shop, let them measure it. You can probably see a 0.5mm (2nd) overbore with just a scale. There are 2 rings, the bottom ring sees a vacuum and there is a wavy spring underneath it. In the technical doc section there is a doc on replac...

Hi, You could try to isolate the electrical functions vs riding with some static tests 1) Replace the fuse. 2) Turn on the ignition, don't start the engine. 3) Taillight is on? 4) Pull the Brake - Brake light on? 5) Left / Right turn signals - check each 6) Horn If you pop the fuse on any of the tes...

Missing bystarter - If the bystarter has been removed and both the fuel/air passages have been plugged you have a carb with no cold start aids. That's no pre-start prime, no enrichenment and no fast idle. So it might be a little more work to start - maybe even starter fluid or a hand over the airbox...
