Re: Ported spree

Did you ever figure out your oil leak on your exhaust connection? I had the same thing and figured it out by looking at my buddy's Spree. Was very simple actually.

Below the surface, not flush. Needs to push down further to bring your idle down. Throttle is stuck partially open unless its completely down.

Re: Finding an Oil Pump Delete Plug for NQ50.

I ordered the gasket set directly from a Honda dealer. The guy told me theres a place "vintage cycles" or something like that that Honda sends all of their old stock OEM parts to so they don't have to house them all. A third party that just stores old parts and just ships out when ordered ...

Re: Finding an Oil Pump Delete Plug for NQ50.

nah, I did a quick spray and blow. Once my gasket kit arrives and I break the carb down again, I'll take my time and do a thorough job. I'll hit it with a soft bristle toothbrush and get all the yellowish gunk off. When I cleaned it the first time I just made sure nothing was plugged or restricted. ...

Re: Finding an Oil Pump Delete Plug for NQ50.

The Taz bbk comes with an 87 jet. Its what Im using and it seems fine so far but I haven't gone WOT yet since I want to be sure its properly broke-in first. Since the bbk install Ive noticed I have a small carb leak. I cant tell if its the 30yr old bowl gasket or if its coming out of the bowl overfl...

Re: 1986 Spree Is Racing & I Cannot Adjust The Idle Speed

Long notch goes in the back. Barrel should be completely down in the shaft below the surface before screwing in the cap. Before you start it, pull the airbox tube off the carb and look into the carb hole. When you twist the throttle grip you should see it inside the carb going up and down. If your a...

Re: Finding an Oil Pump Delete Plug for NQ50.

Yeah, I bought it totally stock with holes in the airbox lid and the mixture was set crazy rich. Carb was filthy, air filter was toast and it barely ran. I think the previous owner was trying anything to keep it going except for proper maintenance and repair. Ill post a buncha pics when I finally pu...

Re: Finding an Oil Pump Delete Plug for NQ50.

Do you guys think a Spree having the only mods being a 48mm Taz bbk and a set of Taz gears would be fine with the stock carb? It might be awhile before I spring for a carb and am planning to run it all Summer like this. Is there anything I should be concerned about like over-revving, over-heating, e...

Re: Finding an Oil Pump Delete Plug for NQ50.

So compression is at about 145psi. Is that good, bad, normal? I also seem to have a carb leak that just started. Seepage is possibly coming from the bowl seal, hard to tell. Gasket kit ordered. I cant get it to idle at all when cold. Have to keep the throttle on until it warms up then its fine. Is t...

Re: Finding an Oil Pump Delete Plug for NQ50.

OK, guys. I have my 2nd bbk installed after I botched the first one. I ran a compression test when I started having problems on the first one and as you can see on the previous page it was at about 112psi....as of today I did the new install, heat cycled about 3-4 times then carefully ran it about 1...

Re: Just did 48mm bbk and oil leaks from exhaust

Has anyone tried to add a thin copper washer in addition to the stock exhaust gasket? I installed a new OEM exhaust ring and Im still getting seepage from the connection. Its not a gusher but still an annoying drop or two on the crankcase after a short trip around the block. When I look at how it su...

Re: Trying to get bike to run, kick start gets really hard t

Well, "IF" your crankcase really is too full of oil and it needs to be drained, I would use a cheap $5 pump(like the picture) in your oil pump opening. I would then TILT the bike slightly to the side while pumping to bring as much oil as possible to the hole. But hey, if you wanna flip you...

Re: Trying to get bike to run, kick start gets really hard t

Wouldn't it be easier to pull the oil pump off and use one of THESE to pump the oil out? They are like $5 at any auto parts store. Afterwards, you should find out WHY youre not getting fuel and WHY it filled up in the first place.
