SO happy with my decision. Also going to post these in the picture thread.... Now considering my mechanical ability is pretty limited, which mod do you think I should do first? rollers? belt? gearing? exhaust pipe? I'm willing to drop around 200 or so on it to get it going quick now, and then I'll w...

I showed my dad this topic and everything you all said... his response "Sounds like a no brainer. I'm convinced. Go for the 50cc"

I'll post pics when I get back today. Thanks a lot guys...

sweeet..... I just went and test drove the 80, it's quick. Consistent acceleration to about 35ish mph, and then it would eventually cruise up to 42 or so. The one problem with it is that the front brakes are messed up and sort of "pump" when I squeezed em. They kinda made the scoot shake, ...

just to make sure I understand correctly,

bigger gear, higher top end less low end acceleration (like starting a car in a higher gear)?

so a 9:1 has more pickup initially than, say, a 6:1 (hypothetical, I don't think they go that low.....)

I'm quickly being convinced to go with the 50 haha. The pulley/gears sounds like a pretty good option i REALLY do appreciate the help. (Is this the right "How To" for the gear swap? Gonna go test drive both of em again tomorrow... Looks like I might actually be able to talk her down to $35...

Go with the Elite 80, keep it stock, and maintain it properly. Realistically there really isn't much you can do to either one to make it faster without destroying it's longitivity and reliability. The 50 is a 2 stroke, and could be made fast enough to run circles around the 80, for about $500, but ...

wow guys LOTS of helpful info here.... One more slight detail that throws tweakin the SR50 is that fact that I'm a college student who lives in a dorm. I have a basic tool set, but no real area to do work on the scooter.... I'm going to go test drive both a little more tomorrow and try and make a de...

haha i actually really don't like the way the 50 looks  , and LOVE the 80's/futuristic kinda look on the 80 but that doesn't really matter..... carry on ALSO: In FL, if I get the 80, I'll have to get it insured and get a motorcycle license which seems like a pain. My dad still insists that &qu...
