Re: Replacement Clutch & Springs

Going with the variated af05 opens so many new doors on go-fast parts compared to the spree motor. From BBK's to carbs to exhaust to trans parts to gears, etc...Sure, not as many options as the Dio motor but still enough to keep one busy for a long time. Just remember, in stock form the variated af0...

Re: Replacement Clutch & Springs

You already bought the mount...do the swap and never look back. You'll be glad you did.

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

YES!! Absolutely! The Met stem itself needs ZERO modifications to fit the 87' SE50. It has the same height as the original, same thread locations, bar height, etc etc. Its like it was MADE to go on this frame. Couple minor tweaks need to be made to the turn stop peg to get the turn radius correct. A...

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

Yes, tried that. Theres a slot in the sa50 brake hub that needs to mate up with the fork protrusion. Shimming on that side is not possible for this reason. Any shimming would need to be done on the non-brake hub side. This means just getting a longer axle spacer than the Met or sa50 one (both too sh...

Re: Spree Petcock covers

Sounds like we need to take one to a 3d scanning place to have it scanned. Then converted to an STL file so the printer can do its magic. Scanning/converting fee looks to be a couple hundred bucks.

This is what I gather from literally minutes of research. I could be wrong.

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

That wont be necessary, bones. Everyone should understand that the recommendations given here are done (usually) with good intentions and are sometimes inaccurate. Its "buyer beware" for people making purchases without doing their own research to ensure parts compatability. Suggestions mad...

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

Try a speedo cable from an sa50 elite. They have a longer neck/stem. The inner cable is square on both ends. So, I bought a cable from Taz for an SA50 elite like you suggested and it arrived today. It does NOT have square cable on both ends. Its square on the speedometer end but has the slot tip on...

Re: 1983 Aero 50 performance parts?

By the time you drop $250 to buy it...then scour the corners of the Earth looking for ways to get it faster, you could've just waited for something better to come along. Not trying to knock anyone who has one but from what I read there isn't much (if any) aftermarket support for it. Just too many ot...

Re: 1985 Aero 50/ Spree 2-Bolt intake manifold option

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but this was why I went for a motor swap on my Spree. There just aren't enough options for hop-up parts for these 2-bolt/single speed motors and the gains just aren't there. Sure, theres enough to get you up to 40mph with decent torque if you buy everything under the sun, ...

Don't the Ruck guys swap in the Met gears for better performance?

Maybe we could do our own little ferry ride. The peninsula has some sweet scenery. Hoping I can hit 50mph by then.

Re: Crossed over to the dark side

I just tore one of these things down to its bones and theres quite a bit to them. It quickly reminded me just how simple the 2-stroke motors are to work on. Surprised it doesn't have OBDII...

Re: 1983 Aero 50 performance parts?

http://www.motorscooterguide.net/Honda/Aero50/Aero50.html Read this in its entirety. Looks like Aero didn't switch to a 4-bolt intake until 86'. Might wanna pass on the 83' unless you plan on keeping it stock. Or if its in nice shape w/title, Itd be a decent candidate for a motor swap if mounts are ...

Re: NW scooter ride/meet-up?

Im down. Two of three bikes are torn apart at the moment for Winter tinkering/tweaking. Also, all 3 top out at around 40mph currently so that's a factor also. Lets put something together!
