Re: Lost some top speed

Next Update: I have been adjusting the air bleed screw up and down a little bit at a time and it still is dangerously slow on take-off, it helps to push off when you turn the throttle. If you put the scooter on the center stand and with it warm, when you rev it up it does not sound like a two stroke...

Re: Lost some top speed

If it bogs off idle it's too rich. If it revs slow and then picks up its lean. If the carb is clean you need to set the idle air mixture and idle speed. If it's too lean at idle it will bog a little. It's a simple process. Double check the the carb air hose at the carb make sure the clamp is good. ...

Re: Lost some top speed

Here is an update. Replaced the Gates 7250 with a gates 7240. The difference is the 7250 has an outside circumference of 25-5/8" (650mm), the 7240 has an outside circumference of 24-5/8" (624mm) and the OEM is 628mm. I took apart the driven pulley, cleaned and regreased. Removed and cleane...

Re: Lost some top speed

Maybe I should read my post before I submit them. :) The scooter is a 1986 Spree totally stock. clean carb, new 68 main jet, 4 month old top end, cleaned and oiled air filter, fairly new spark plug. I also replaced the belt with a Gates 7250. The scooter was running sluggish prior to the belt change...

Lost some top speed

Hi All, I'm sure this has nothing to do with it but... I switched 2 stoke oil from Havoline to Klotz full synthetic. It seems since doing this the scooter is a little more sluggish on the take-off and a couple of MPH slower on top end. I'm not sure if the muffler may be clogged, it looks like it has...

Re: Spree soft siezed (I think)

Yes the vacuum nipple is caped off tightly. I did check the air box and it is sealed very good. Just to be sure the seam between to cover and the box has been sealed with a good grade of tape. Easy to remove, but sticks very well. I am going to drain the oil from my wife's Spree and my Zuma and repl...

Re: Spree soft siezed (I think)

Thanks Wheelman, I do not have a vacuum shut off. When I got the scooter the vacuum pet * as broken, I tried one off eBay and that really didn't work. So I replaced it with an on-off pet * and all new hoses. But the point about running out of fuel really make sense. I has happened before in roughly ...

Spree soft siezed (I think)

My wife was out on her 86 Spree today cruising along the beach WOT for about 2 miles and the engine quit. It is stock with a month old top end rebuild. The top end was broken in as recommended. The oil pump seems to be working, the oil level is going down and I can see a light smoke coming from the ...

86 Spree slow from take off

Hey Guys/Gals, Put the lower end motor section purchased on ebay in my wife's spree. Also installed a new stock top end kit from chopchop, did the correct break in. The scooter starts and runs great. The only problem is it is slow on the take off. Once the engine gets the revs up it takes off. The c...

Re: we need a 3d print file for spree petcock cover

I did find a couple of members that were reproducing them but none seem to be making them any longer. These parts are quite hard to find so if you know of some one still making them please let me know.

Re: we need a 3d print file for spree petcock cover

I did a Solidworks 3D model of the petcock cover I just purchased off of KillingSpree (Thanks). I check with some online 3D printing houses and the best I could find was $64 each or $52 in a quantity of 20. Material would be white nylon, if you wanted it in some other color or material the price alm...

Spree Big Bore Kit

Hi All, I installed a 47mm big bore kit on my wife's spree. I followed the instructions, added the extra holes in the lid of the air box, used the included main jet and am adding additional oil to the gas at 40:1(3.2oz per gallon). The scooter fouls plugs once a day, they are completely covered in a...

Spree Drive Belt.

Hi All,
Need to get a new drive belt for me wife's 1986 Spree. The Honda P/N is 23100-GK8-870 which is 628 x 11.4 x 30. A couple of after market parts web sites say "654 18 30 49cc 50cc Scooter Honda Dio Elite Spree 50 Belt" Anybody have experience with which size is correct?

Thanks
Bob
