Am thinking about getting a tacho and came across this thread. Just wondered, has anyone tried a digital tacho like this one?

I think I've hijacked this thread a bit too much so have moved onto the other thread I was posting on.

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug
Decided to move all the conversations onto this thread. From: http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24745&p=300046#p300046 Also, 12:1 ratio is not ideal for top speed. I'm guessing that you'd only see about 37mph with those gears. My AF05 has 10:1 and does 41-ish. 35 would be ...

Re: New member from France with a 1986 Aero 50
Just checked my final drive ratio, it looks to be a little over 12:1. That is just over 12 turns of the clutch to 1 turn of the rear wheel. According to the NB 50 manual I downloaded it would normally be 11.097:1 Maybe this lower gearing is taking away some of the top speed. The NB50 manual is the c...

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug
I did wonder about the angle of the ramp plate, but the 2 pulley halves on the drive do come together with about a 0.5mm gap when the ramp plate is at it's maximum travel. That small gap is caused by the ramp plate touching the 'seal' plate at the back of the variator. I'm waiting for a new belt / r...

Re: New member from France with a 1986 Aero 50
Yeah, the final drive gear ratio is a distinct possibility. I've ordered new rollers & a drive belt, so will report back when they're fitted. I can probably get a few more rpm from cleaning out the carbon, but the engine seemed to be revving freely enough when I was out a few days ago. As for ho...

Re: New member from France with a 1986 Aero 50
Yeah, the exhaust washer will certainly reduce power and probably the revs, if you add that to a flat ramp plate you'll get speed restrictions. On mine there may have been a washer and perhaps even a flatter ramp plate at one time. The exhaust pipe does get a bit wider near the silencer too. 2 thing...

Re: New member from France with a 1986 Aero 50
Curiosity got the better of me today and it was nice to be outside with some sunshine so I took the variator off. Mine looks to be unrestricted, so it's still a bit of a mystery how they restrict the UK versions to 30mph. http://i1381.photobucket.com/albums/ah232/cancunia/35f2b896-7fd7-4e46-8353-b3a...

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug
For the record, Ive never had or even SEEN a Vision NE50 in person. Please take my comments at face value. Thanks for all of your replies, it's a learning curve for all of us! I'll double check the weights but am fairly sure I got 59g for all 6 and 10g for 1 of them. The drive face - backing plate ...

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug
Here's the drive face from mine, the belt looks to be reaching about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way up. I'm sure this is covered elsewhere, but since I'm here I'll ask.. What weight rollers should I aim for to give the best top end with reasonable acceleration? They're 10g at the moment, although slightly wor...

Sorry you mean my 'UK2' ramp plate is not restriced?Meatball wrote:That ramp plate you have is not restricted and should get you to 37-40 mph. There must be a restriction elsewhere.

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug
Much appreciate you posting those pix. Any idea how far the ramps end above the flat surface? My rollers all have a flat on them, one is pretty bad so they'll need replacing. They weigh 10g & are 13mm long x 16mm dia The Ramp Plate is 12mm inside dia & 73mm outside. Here's some pix of my ram...

Re: New member from France with a 1986 Aero 50
Many thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like there's quite a difference between the 2 ramp plates? I'll take mine apart some time in the next few days and see if it's similar to your original. I remember reading your posts from a while back about the ramp plate another member had sent to you and...

Re: UK Honda Vision NE50 MF - newbie performance advice soug
Thanks for the wiki links, from the pictures the ramp plate differences are totally clear and if mine is anything similar it explains a lot. Do those ramp plates also fit an AF05 motor? . Restricted European exhausts normally have a washer right at the top of the header but it's worth checking the w...
