Re: Carb Adjustment Help
Ok, jokes up. I've never had to tinker with a carb. I'm also 20 years old and live in the city, where I've taken mass transit everywhere my entire life. So yes, I have a bit of the inner-city-kid-mechanically-inexperienced disease which is slowly going away, one Spree fix at a time. This is how I wo...

Carb Adjustment Help
These have to be the worst instructions I've ever read in my life: http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5?title=Carburetor_Air/Fuel_Adjustments_-_Spree Someone please dumb-it-up so I can understand what I'm supposed to do with these screws. Also, I have no way of technically measuring RPMs, as I'm wo...

Re: How to replace clutch...
I'm not sure if it is or isn't causing issues since I bought it a couple weeks ago and don't have a good reference of what the "normal" drive is like. I suspect it is; they were extremely worn down. Thanks for the part number.

How to replace clutch...
I recently disassembled my '84 Spree's transmission and noticed the pads on my clutch that grab onto the outer wheel are starting to wear down; I think I should start thinking about replacing them. I'm new to rebuilding scooters and don't know what they're called, let alone where or how to buy the c...

Re: Back tire seized! What could it be?
@abreen89: Thanks so much for the advice! I hadn't realized it was cheaper through the dealer (it's usually more expensive). I took the transmission back apart and dried off a couple parts around the clutch. Also cleaned the flywheel thing that the clutch grabs on to (sorry I don't know the terminol...

I suspect my 1984 Spree has an 1986 engine...
For one reason in particular: it has a kick start. Sprees didn't have a kick start until the 86 model, but my VIN says its definitely a 1984. Could someone have just added a kick start to the 84 engine? Is there a way to find the exact engine year using the code stamped on it? I ask because I'm want...

Re: 86 Spree not running
Try cleaning out your carburetor. There are a couple videos on YouTube that will walk you through it. It's not a difficult task, and could be restricting airflow and providing an incorrect gas mixture. Could be your culprit!

Re: Back tire seized! What could it be?
Thanks! When I reassembled it I noticed the belt had some small cracks here and there. Time for a new one! Plus I might have oiled something that shouldn't have been. I'm gonna get a new belt and swap it out and dry off clutch area all in one operation. I've been looking at the Honda stock belts tha...

Re: Back tire seized! What could it be?
As it turns out, the bolt that keeps the entire gear system snug from the outside unscrewed itself under the belt cover. Took it all apart, inspected everything, reassembled, relubed, tightened up, and she's back on the road! Only now I have a new problem...it seems my drive belt is slipping at low ...

Re: Back tire seized! What could it be?
Thanks for the ideas! I started the disassembly today and found that the brakes are functioning correctly, but that the rear axle itself won't rotate. So it looks as if the axle bearings are frozen or the gears are broken. I'm guessing it's a a gear issue. My new question: How do I check the bearing...

Back tire seized! What could it be?
I have a stock 1984 Honda Spree with 3,300 miles. I noticed it was running a little warmer than I thought usual, but it was not making any odd sounds and was keeping up well with traffic (27-30 mph). About 20 minutes ago I turned a corner, heard a very slight squeal/pop (hardly loud enough to hear--...

Spree Headlight Help!
I just bought a 1984 Honda Spree about a week ago, and man am I having a blast! It runs pretty good, seems to be all stock, well maintained, and getting 29-30mph. I'll be taking it to a local shop for a tune up anyways just to be safe. My headlight, however, is probably original and needs some TLC. ...
