Whenever I clean/rebuild a carb I press up on the float (to seat the float valve) and blow through the fuel intake tube on the carb. If I can blow through it then I know that the float needle is not seating properly. That is my way of testing the seal. If you want to buy a new part, then from babbit...

Compression Check

I was wondering what compression should be at when the engine is cold and when it is warmed up. Everyone says 120psi, but how much below that is acceptable? I have an Elite LX engine and it is only registering at 60psi. I'm not sure how tight I have to get the hose to get a good reading? I'm going t...

Alright I grounded the black/white wire directly off of the ICM and the engine continued to run. I'm assuming this means that I have a bad ICM?

I thought that you mentioned before that the problem was on the rear pulley? That the belt was too thin and rode too low on the driven pulley?

In any case, exactly what parts did you install with the aftermarket variator?

'97 Elite SA ignition

The key and run/off switch do not work on my '97 SA50. I have no way to turn it off once it is running other than to set the idle screw so low that it dies. I have constant spark so there is no key required to run it. I have looked over the wiring (and wiring diagram) and the only noticeable problem...

I believe you just take the bolt out that the lever pivots on. Then disconnect the brake cable and that should be it.

Clean the carb. The carb in this guide is different than yours but the concept is the same:

Pictures of your hosing problems would be helpful. Take a look at the Service Manual:

It is basically just a modern barn (not constructed of all wood). I have been familiar with pole barns ever since helping my dad build his. Maybe it's a Midwest thing? When you pull apart the '87 transmission count the gears. I don't think all of them were 13T, only some...do you have the VIN?
