Re: questions about SE50 Spree swap

No go. Everything I tried either had zero improvement or made it worse. Needle on top/mid/bottom...mixture screw 2 or 1 1/2 or 1 or just 1/2 turn out at every needle position. I tried every combination with no luck. The stock motor just isn't happy with a pod filter on it. I put the stock airbox bac...

Re: 1987 Honda Elite 50

One way is to post a "wanted" ad here in the proper section. You could also scour Ebay but there hasn't been any on there in awhile. Best way is to save a few more pennies than the old stock ones will cost you and buy aftermarket items. More bang for your buck too. This is one Ive been sta...

Re: 1987 Honda Elite 50

The "P" means its the "restricted" version. I just went through this same process. To de-restrict you need to get a muffler, ramp plate and gears from an SE50. They say that the main jet in the SE50P "IOWA VERSION" is #82 and if you have that then it needs to be swapped...

Look on the VIN sticker on the frame tube on the carb side. Does it say SE50P?

Meloshameless wrote:you should be richening the needle/ moving the clip down. You can also try richening the mixture screw, go all the way in and then back it out only 1/2 - 1 turn. Vs the standard 1.5 turns out.
I will try both of these tomorrow and report back....thx for the advice, melo

Re: Spree died mid ride

Nah, The head comes off easily while on the bike. After taking off the fan cover, muffler, spark plug and plastic head shroud-its only 4 head bolts. Should be off in 10 minutes. I usually remove the bolt from the shock and swing it out of the way to access that PITA rear bolt holding the shroud on a...

Rollers..to grease or NOT to grease

That is the question! Also, Im running a stock SE50 Elite motor in my Spree. Stock rollers are still in there. What rollers should I swap to? Seems like every thread I read has a different opinion on weight. Or should I just get an aftermarket variator kit? Which one?

Re: Honda Elite Tire Replacement

Its just a 2.75x10 scooter/motorcycle tire...theres hundreds of brands to choose from. They can be had at most any local motorsports shop or you can scour the interwebs. Ive seen them range from about $20-$50 depending on quality or speed rating. The two types are TL (tubeless) or TT (tube-type). Yo...

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

Something is fishy with those kits. IMO they are JUNK. Not true. Ive been turning wrenches for close to 25yrs and know that if anything was wrong with these kits then they would be immediately exploding on the initial crank or flat out wouldn't run at all. You just cant run "JUNK" at 5000...

Did you get the Strap Wrench from Harbor Freight? I got mine for less than $10 at Home Depot and it comes with a lifetime guarantee to never break! http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-8-in-Strap-Wrench-012365/203526056 The starter doesn't need to be lined up and should be fully seated in its hole befor...

Re: Need suggestions on how to start over....

as stated above....Id like to know how.

Airbox set-up, main jet, needle position, fuel mixture, what carb/muffler he's using, etc, etc....

I never said the kits wont work. I just said that "I" couldn't get it right. Impatience and frustration consumed me so I did a motor swap instead.

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

I ran out of patience trying to get the Spree motor to perform. It does an EXCELLENT job at doing what it was designed to do....go 25-30mph with slow acceleration. After I threw everything but the kitchen sink at the NQ50 motor I was still unimpressed. I took the plunge and swapped in a SE50 variate...

So the 84 Spree that turned out to be an Aero...is it an 84' still? Makes a difference on the Aero since motor changes were made within those years.

Re: questions about SE50 Spree swap

It bogs hot or cold. Do you think I have too much air flow from the unifilter? I know the needle position affects idle to low throttle and I have mine dropped down in the leanest position. It acts like its rich (or muddy) on take-offs then cleans up after a few seconds and is totally fine at all upp...
