Aero 1987 Resurrected: Flash Scootertrash
Greetings: Getting around to posting this today. I acquired the scooter from old pal Hal in early November. I spent most of the month ridding the fuel system of a half-inch of resin I came to call The Beast  It fired up and ran stock for about 50 miles, showing a best indicated speed of 38....

Adapting SA to SE
Greetings: Briefly considered. Attentively read up on the process. Decided the considerable work involved would likely result in overall gearing that the semi-stock Polini 65 could not handle. 2:1 secondary = Too tall! Furthermore the gears would become unsellable. They belong in an 82cc (or bigger....

Greetings: What werx said is correct, I believe. One more thing - the only Polini kit I was able to locate for my Aero NB50/SE50 is called a Contesta. Its 47 mm cylinder is the largest that will fit within the stud spacing, apparently. With the stock 37.4mm stroke, it yields a hair under 65 cc. VT C...

Expansion Chamber For Tomos?!
Greetings: Dac, you get that muffler off the good oak coffee table this instant!! Do you hear me?? Man, I'm ticked off. You can buy a fancy tuned pipe for an obscure moped nobody's ever heard of, but just try to find one for an Aero/SE - a bike that sold MILLIONS of copies over its run. Life just ai...

Gasket Softener
Greetings:
Try any Autoparts store. Ask for Gasket Remover. Comes in a spray can or paint-on. Be careful where you apply.

Nicasil
Greetings: I see a KRH bore kit on Daywot's store. I have NO experience with this specific setup. The price is attractive. The story reads that this is a Nikasil-lined bore. I do know a thing or two about that. Compared to many other alloys, Aluminum is a great heat condutor. That's a useful in a hi...

Shocking! Owners of Pre+Post 1994 Elites?
Greetings: I'd like to lengthen travel and improve my ride. Reviewing available shock absorbers on eBay and other places: It appears that SA50/Elite dampers are somehow distinct from SE50/Aero models. How do they differ? What (if anything) specifically makes them incompatible? What's needed (if anyt...

Part Tarp Rapt Prat Trap
Greetings:
Yeah, I have a 20x20 tarp or two myself. Shred-Betty and I used to use them for ground cover & shade to keep rigged sails at regattas. Cheap, effective, but a bee-yotch to fold up every morning.
Anagrammatically yours,

Bystarter Blues
Greetings: Thanks KMcC. You're probably right. I'll experiment with turning on the ignition sooner - waiting longer before hitting Start - to allow the bystarter a bit more time to develop its full erection. I was hoping that part of the genius of the device was that it would respond to ambie...

Aerology
Greetings:
Despite the common Aero name, the 85-87 rear body panels are different from the '83-84. Many other parts are completely incompatible.
Do you have any of your plastics? Look in Tech Docs for Cheap/Dirty Plastic Repair topic. Home Depot has the stuff to fix.

Cold Start/Hot Start
Greetings: I'm really beginning to like that bystarter thingy. As long as the temperatures here in Deepinna, Texas stay wintry, a kiss on the starter button summons a brisk idle speed that is maintained until the helmet's strapped down and the gloves are on. When it's warmer, or after a brief stop t...

Evil Info
Greetings: Thanks Evilone for the informative post and tasty pics. There's so much overlap in Honda's nomenclature it's easy to get confused. I get that the 83-84 Aeros in the US first introduced the Variator. The '85-87 Aeros adopted the SE50 powertrain, but the '85 alone had some unique features -...
