check the bystarter (electric choke) If you only have a cold start problem. But give the carb a good cleaning, theres a good tutorial in the wiki on carb cleaning, even a picture guide if needed.

Even with the low miles you should check the belt measurements. 15mm width or less it should be replaced, also with the age check for cracks and burn spots. Check the rollers for flat spots, and make sure there is no grease in the variator.

check the drive belt and rollers. Make sure to remove any grease in the variator, it is not needed and makes the rollers harder to roll. even though it only has a few thousand miles it has plenty of years to make the belt slip or degrade.

are they used on larger motors? Had a similar hole in an exhaust on my scoot the first block. I believe that's the reason I'm on bbk number 2.

I think welding would be the only sure way. might try a muffler wrap but if it works it wont work for long.
