Re: Honda Spree with no low end power from stop.
It is basically a straight pipe but did not improve the power. A straight pipe will actually kill performance. A 2 stroke engine works different then a 4 stroke. It relies on back pressure from the muffler to send a sonic pulse back up into the cylinder that has unspent fuel in it. Without it, you ...

Re: Honda Spree with no low end power from stop.
Clutch can be repadded by JWPARTSPLUS. https://www.jwpartsplus.com/jw-clutch-worx.html Highly doubt it's the springs. If the springs were shot, the clutch would engage too soon because they couldn't resist the centrifugal force anymore from being worn. But none the less, good idea to change them if ...

Re: Carb swap and motor ID question
Your BBK setup is wrong, will probably blow. If it's an SB50 engine, you are better off with the SB50 intake.. Actually, even if it's an NQ50 engine, the SB50 intake is better for that BBK. Bigger jet that ships with the BBK is useless. Follow these directions: http://hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewtopic...

Re: Weight limit for a heavier rider 1987 spree stock
The pulley will kill your acceleration, not recommended to drive on a road where speed limit is 55, you can impede traffic, or worse, get hurt. But to answer the question, being a bigger guy will absolutely slow you down. On my Spree, I can pull it to about 42 tops with my weight (320lbs), but then ...

Re: Another Fuel related question
Best way I have found to clean the carb is using a small crock pot with some pine-sol and oxy-clean. Put about a half cup of oxy-clean, then add enough pine-sol to cover the disassembled carb, mix it up a bit and cook on low overnight. Then spray it out with WD-40, then spray again with compressed a...

Re: Another Fuel related question
Agreed, check the reeds, and reduce the oil to 40:1. Plug doesn't look rich, it looks saturated. Saturated is very similar in looks to rich and can be confused with rich when looking at the plug.. Rich on a Spree is possible, but not probable. 40:1 is a more ideal ratio. Flip the reeds if they look ...

Re: Big Bore with stock Intake and exhaust?
Stock exhaust will be fine, stock intake you'll run lean, and probably blow the piston. Check out the link in my signature for a complete rundown.

Re: Spree runs very rich until airbox is opened
that being open would cause a lean condition???? That was my thought too, that he wasn't running rich, he was running lean. Going rich isn't impossible, but it is improbable. Also, as a side note, if that's a new piston as stated, you might wanna run an additional 80:1 in the tank till it's broken ...

Re: Spree runs very rich until airbox is opened
How do you know it's running rich? Did you do a plug chop? Also, when you say you "Got it to run", that doesn't tell much. getting it to run could mean many things, and absolutely not the right way. For instance, did you do something like plug the oiler off and run premix? Did you throw a ...

One way to tell (unless the plastics have been changed or the decals are missing), is to look at the side graphics. Each year has a specific design. 1984: https://s14.postimg.cc/gqq4ly0ip/87128_GK8_670_ZA.jpg 1985: http://hondaspree.net/wiki/images/thumb/3/33/Spree_1985_Side_Logo_300dpi.jpg/800px-Sp...

Re: Do not swap Spree engines
Of course you can improve the performance of a Spree. The issue, is whether or not the changes will give you the performance boost you are seeking. Then there is another major factor.. cost. For a 45mph+ Spree, you will spend upwards of $500 though you lose a significant amount of bottom end acceler...
