My take on high-octane. Higher octane gas is just knock protection. Jim is right that the Spree does not make enough compression to require high octane fuel. That said, at nearly 100 MPG you could certainly run it anyway and not spend much more annually on fuel. I use high-octane in everything I own...

The reason I asked is that my Spree seems to run slower/less top speed in the recent colder weather than in warm (3-4 MPH slower.) Not sure if this is typical. Jerry?

test subject

Thanks guys. I rarely mess with putting in new subjects after the original post, probably b/c I never read them and don't typically read the board in a "thread" format. The way this board nests, as long as the original subject is descriptive, the rest of the burden lies on the searcher to ...

Thoughts: 1) Is the crush washer in place on plug? 2) Did you torque the plug to spec? Loose plug=loss of compression. 3) Could be something unrelated. Check 1 & 2 first. ------------------------ Guys, I'm going to rant a bit about subject titles. This is not directed explicitly at you Vette76, ...

Laws vary state to state, a synopsis is posted on the web (I believe mopedarmy.com has this.) Best check with local state laws. In MI, for example, no title is required, but registration with Secretary of State is. No helmet or insurance required. A driver's licence or special moped licence (for 15 ...

Topic: What years have interchangable parts?

My understanding is that Spree parts from 1984 to 1987 are all interchangable. Exhaust from 84-85 is different from 86-87, but interchangable. Carbs are different as well for same breakpoints, but interchangable. Some Aero 50 and Elite 50 parts of this vintage will interchange as well, but this vari...

There are motorcyclists there; I know of at least a few that are on another site that ride CB900Fs. The short riding season is actually an advantage, I would think the bikes would typically lower milage. Like in Michigan. In AZ, the miles get racked up a lot faster.

Did you ever buy anything?

My in tank filter is stuck too. My tank was rusty, and the filter was so clogged with rust that it wouldn't flow fuel. Cleaning the tank, filter in place, seems to have cleaned out the filter as well. Never did get it unstuck though. If it flows fuel, leave it alone, if not then get a new one (are t...

Call drichardson@core.com, or check ebay. You need the insulator. If I were you, I'd consider running an inline filter to your new carb. How's the tank? You're correct on the tightening spec as long as it is a brand new plug . This give the proper washer squish. Otherwise you need to measure to get ...

They make a special plastic paint prep, sold at auto paint shops. I always use this stuff for prep work. Thinner works OK on steel, but will melt the factory finish on the SMC spree parts.

Jerry,

At 5300 ft, shouldn't he be playing with his mix off stock levels?

What do your plugs look like, light brown, dark brown, or white?
