Re: 1985 spree wont start
change the plug, sometimes they will fire outside of the motor but not under compression. be sure the gap is correct. Also make sure the airbox is on tightly with no air leaks and the air filter is oiled.

Re: bogs at start and slowdown
hate to say it but if the crack in the exhaust was there for a while I'd check compression. I lost a bbk to a cracked pipe close to the block, although it did take about 400 miles. Hope this isn't your problem

Re: My Aero50 Wont start
to rule out any other issues besides the carb from the 80. You could put the stock carb on to see if it starts consistantly and runs correct

Re: a couple questions
order the bearing from honda or taz. And the 100 jet should be fine. ran almost the same setup except the variator in my 94 for around 600 miles no problem. went with dif exhaust and carb after that.

Re: very noob question
manual says 114-171. I believe closer to 120 is most common, most engines will run at 90 psi but not any lower. Hope yours is above.

not sure if it's the same cable from taz your talking about but I bought one from him and it works just fine with no modifications at all. got it a few years ago.

check rollers for flat spots and belt for width. dont know if the 99 came with the restrictor plate on the variator but if it did remove that as well.

Re: Bad Carb?
I don't have a spree with bbk but my elite with 50mm bbk dropped down into the 30's (mpg)after installing. It's not about the mileage once this has been done, it's about the fun and smiles you get..
