Re: Any need for larger caburetor?
Oh I will be doing vacuum test too. Renting vacuum pump soon. Once manifold leak is solved will still be doing starter fluid/carb cleaner/propane test also. Surprisingly my self-made sheet metal manifold held pressure

Re: Any need for larger caburetor?
built and did pressure test. Solved problem leaks: oil plug and my actual tester leaked. Crankcase gasket was good which was what i was worried about because it's something I was not comfortable fixing. Pressure did not hold at 6psi for 6 mins. The seam after the reed before the manifold leaks. Not ...

Re: Cheap Oil Plug
Just did a pressure test with my oil plug today and it definitely leaks. Put stock pump in with inlet and outlet attached together with hose. Pressure at oil plug good now. I think the failure in my design is sealing the threads in the bolt. Maybe i'll put some jb weld on it and see how it holds. Al...

Re: Replacing petcock with mikuni fuel pump
Greetings: I managed to find all the parts necessary to plumb into the '87 Aero tank at the Home Depot's Plumbing Odds 'n Ends department. Here's a "Pic". Fuel LineFilter Assembly.jpg Add your inline Cone O' Stone filter and a plastic Lawn Mower petcock below it and avoid Mikomplications....

Re: Replacing petcock with mikuni fuel pump
Any trouble with carb overflowing? Would the float stop excess fuel? Obviously you would turn it off when you're not riding. Already have the fuel pump but having trouble finding a place to mount it and fit the filter in front of it. Would be a lot easier to just use the valve. My cm400 valve is jus...

Replacing petcock with mikuni fuel pump
getting rid of my petcock because I don't want to buy and couldn't find the fuel screen that is put above it. So I have a mikuni fuel pump which will have an inline filter before it. I've had a problem figuring out how to attach a hose to the tank until I cleaned out my storage and found a fuel valv...

oh snap! I agree with Bear tho. In my mind it would have to be a long hill to vaporize all that oil.

Re: Modifying Exhaust Port
Ended up just removing the bottom of the outside of the exhaust port and did a little polishing. And rounded the inside of the ports to let the rings move by easier.
Here's what I removed from the exhaust port

Re: Any need for larger caburetor?
Here's a pic of my adaptor. Not trimmed around the contour of the manifold but I don't see the point in making those difficult cuts until I see that the thing works, so it's just a large square cut to clear the cylinder and left case. The gap between the manifold and sheet metal may look big because...

Re: AF05E Exhaust List - Aero and Elite 87-93 engines
Fitted the exhaust completely yesterday. Having trouble getting pictures small enough to be allowed on this site. Had to widen the bottom mount hole 3/4 in to get the bottom bolt in which I didn't want to do but was not hard and doesn't compromise the strength of the mounting bracket. Ground off par...

Re: Any need for larger caburetor?
Only advantage I can see is not having the risk of starting an engine that has an air leak.
