Re: Need help finding a part for SA50

re: insert a bolt and thread it into the plastic. I did that on one of my elite seats too.. so far it has been working well and hasn't come loose.

Re: Need help finding a part for SA50

Bonesv.. needmoreinfo may have been referring to the rod that is under the seat that runs between the two plastic mounds, and is what hooks into the latch itself, not the hinge pin.. not sure though.. needmoreinfo.. what is the rod you need?

Re: Need help finding a part for SA50

The rod comes with the seat and can't be ordered separately. The seat (with the rod included) is one of the few seats still available from your local Honda Powersports dealer, or from one of the online vendors, but they are pretty pricey, going for around $100. But you do get a brand new seat with a...

Re: Help Needed to Open 1984 Gyro Seat, Find Manaul, etc.

Bindi, The real problem here is that you assumed that a Gyro would handle like a three wheel mobility scooter. Since Gyro's aren't made to be driven with the tilt lock in the locked position, if you do end up riding your Gyro, you will find it no more stable than a 2 wheel scooter, and likely your G...

Re: Help Needed to Open 1984 Gyro Seat, Find Manaul, etc.

Bindi, 1. The release for the seat is a keyed lock that uses the same key as the ignition switch. It is on the left side of the body below the seat, below the lower back edge of the seat. Sounds like your seat lock is missing or bunged up. You do say that there is a place by the seat to put a key in...

Anyone have a Honda QA50?

This is a bit tangential, but posting it anyway.. not really scooter related, at least it is Honda 50 related.. sorry about that. As part of an eBay twofer deal, I ended up with a factory original shop manual in pretty good shape for a QA50. As it is unlikely that I will ever own one of these little...

Re: 2001 Elite 50 Dies out

Yes, the plug should spark when you hold it the body of the plug against (not just near) the block, head, or chassis, with the coil connected to the spark plug and turn the engine over, as long as the ignition key switch is turned on, and the kill switch on the right handlebar is in the run position...

Re: 2001 Elite 50 Dies out

Back from the music store with some guitar string.. they had "high E" in 9, 10, and 12 sizes. I got a 9 and a 10, then went back and tried each in a carb that I had already cleaned with copper wire, and couldn't get either the 9 or 10 to pass through.. then I went to wikispreedia and found...

Re: 2001 Elite 50 Dies out

Editing this to include mention of the dogleg in the passageway - VG FunkyMonkey.. I got this suggestion from Charlie, the parts man at my local Honda Powersports dealer, and believe it or not, it works, but you need patience. First of all, I'm pretty sure that you found out that the smallest wire i...

Re: Bought a 97 Elite S Today

I agree with Wheelman. I think the SEAL, MOVEABLE DRIVE FACE, aka "washer" has already been removed from the variator. Very tough to go over 30 with that in there. For starters though, the cover to the airbox is easy to remove. Once off, inspect the cover to see if it has been modified.

Re: Bought a 97 Elite S Today

To be called a moped in Florida, it needs to have pedals that can propel it. There are four terms.. Motorcycle, motor scooter, motorized scooter and moped. Read this article and buried in it you will see the rule referenced that lets you operate an under 50cc motor scooter on the street with a regul...
