https://i.imgur.com/1yAq3PY.jpg Did some riding around, bent front wheel be damned. It RIIIIPS. at least at like 1/4 throttle. The couple times i opened it up, it seemed as though the response tapers off. Havent gone full throttle at all, but yeah it seems to do well. Still need to get a tach so I ...

Re: 1985 "Trash Aero" project

Didnt plan on it, but ended up doing some additional work on the thing this weekend. This was supposed to be a winter build, but Im so impatient that Its basically all happening at once lol. I was able to convert to an SA50 brake panel. I also had a 90/90 tire mounted to a Honda Metropolitan wheel. ...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

You could use an air filter like this one which, if mounted up correctly, could serve as a useful support bracket.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Dio-50-Elite-50-AIR-BOX-for-Keihin-OKO-POLINI-21mm-30mm-Carbs/202816709053?hash=item2f38d161bd:g:udEAAOSwwkNcVjvs. If I had to guess, the combo of the...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

Greetings: Very painstaking careful work Nate! See if there's a way to fabricate a bracket to support the weight of that big carb. I have READ (No direct experience) that those rubber carb flanges can fatigue and crack, letting air in. I was shocked as you all are that I was capable of putting it a...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

Two words for you Nate.....Temperature gauge If you have air leaks it will let you know quick. If you run without a gauge, it may be too late. Oh no worries there, I have a CHT. I wouldnt do a big build like this and guess. Im running 45 pilot, about 3 turns out on the air screw boi and 118 main, b...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

So everything came in the day before I had to leave, so naturally I stressed out and decided to put it all together at once. I had to get some tires put on, so I figured the bike shop could just tap my crank seals in. I am capable obviously, but hunting sockets and buying sections of pvc is more tim...

Re: 1985 "Trash Aero" project

Update again. Ive been at Microsoft Conferences the last week, but managed to put some work in. I decided this bike should be good enough for my AF16 build if not only temporarily. The Aero mount worked in the past , but the Fabrizi pipe I got hits the frame. I remembered trying to use the stock eli...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

Dont have pics uploaded, but I managed to put the engine together and get it to fire. Pipe hits the frame, so need to figure out a solution there. Need to figure out the air screw, will not run without choke pulled. Runs great choked though haha. Couldnt get it to run at first, gave it ether against...

bonesv wrote: Fri Nov 01, 2019 12:00 pm I think I remember using a 42 pilot but that was a 26mm carb made by oko
Based on other setups and talking to people Im thinking I can stick a 40 in and be fine. 45 probs will run too but maybe with a couple turns out?

Re: Carburetor

Something else to check, if you have a stock PA stamped carb, the bowl has an enrichment circuit that is used by the bystarter. If its clogged you wont be able to start easily.

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

I ordered a second main jet kit as I was told that 118 wont be enough for this pipe. I had a Fabrizi pipe like that for a while and I remember it was tricky to install. Actually it was frustrating and I had to make the side bolt just the right length for the fit. It seemed to like a 124 mj in an ok...

Re: 1985 "Trash Aero" project

I didnt take good pics of the shidbird when I worked on it last weekend, but I painted over the overspray on the floor panel, cleaned the busted up farings, pulled out the NOS front cover, did some zip tie stitching on the cracked plastics for the right side. Tore it all down to nothing basically. I...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

The pictures were mis-leading then. I’m sure any leaks will show up on the pressure test. :thumbwink: Its misleading in person too, but its smoother than a babies bum. I was gonna hone it, but Id put money on it being okej. I need to figure out how to install the crank seals. Not sure if any of my ...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

I checked itagain in person and non of them are deep enough for a fingernail to catch even. From a side angle they don't have any weight, I think it's just the reflection from the led light above. Will add pics tomorrow
