How Do Thermal Flasher Relays Work?
Here are a couple of flasher or winker relays for turn signals that IÔÇÖm studying. They are called thermal flashers (editorial comment, there is no thermal principle with these, solely magnetic, I may need to rewrite this entire entry) as compared to electronic. Several people have asked on the int...

Re: Tachometer Questions
I would like to get this original tachometer running again. Photo attached, taken when I was sending a signal to the fuel level gauge moving it back and forth from empty to full.

Re: Right Switch Symbol on Handlebar
Thanks. So the right hand switch is an on/off switch and the left hand switch is high/low beam. That is also what I discovered tonight when driving at night for the first time.

Right Switch Symbol on Handlebar
Do you know what the right switch would be for on my Honda Flush (version of the Spree not for export)? It has a light symbol with a Japanese one below it. Is it for a parking light or instrument cluster light? It doesn't appear to operate anything.

Tachometer Questions
The tachometer on my Honda Flush doesn't work leading me to the following questions. 1) Has anyone looked at the signal going to the tachometer with an oscilloscope? 2) Are pulses sent once per engine revolution? 3) Have you bench tested a tachometer and if so, what kind of signals did you generate ...

That Z4 looks a lot better than my old Honda Flush.

Re: Fuel Tank Sending Unit Broken
Ruckenstein, yes, I would like to purchase a fuel sending unit for my 1985 Honda Flush. It is 3 wire and you've seen the photo of it. Please send me details. I had thought of making one from a 5 ohm potentiometer, 300 degree total throw, and limiting the throw to 42 degrees, giving me the delta of 7...

Re: Fuel Tank Sending Unit Broken
I don't know of any local places to find such a donor part. I'm thinking of engineering a new sending unit from a 1 kohm potentiometer, mounting the float to the adjuster knob, 3 wires to the pot, and mounting the pot on a steel bracket. I'll first immerse the pot in gasoline for a month and examine...

Re: Fuel Tank Sending Unit Broken
My unit is a 3-wire sending unit which broke the carbon trace. Has anyone taken a 1 kilohm potentiometer and retrofitted it to the fuel sending unit? Bl/Wh and Y/Wh would go to the ends with G to the wiper. Would any part of the potentiometer be incompatible with fuel? How would one reduce the inter...

Re: 1986 honda Elite 150d Fuel sending unit
My unit is different all together here are some pictures: Maybe they might help : If Ia can get a picture of the contacts it will help me to construct new contacts. Do you still want a photo of the wiping fingers for a 3 wire fuel tank sending unit? I took mine apart. My fingers are fine but the ca...

Fuel Tank Sending Unit Broken
Have any of you had defective fuel tank sending units and have you repaired them yourself? My Honda Flush (not for export but similar in ways to the Spree) has a defective sending unit though I know the fuel tank gauge works. The float was initially stuck which by pulling off the small washer/keeper...

Re: "84 spree starter problems
I think you need a new battery. You can try jumping it to an automotive battery with small cables that have alligator teeth rather than large jaws. Then you'll have the voltage and ampacity to turn it over. Be careful with the battery leads. I once had the positive one touch the fuel tank which itse...

Location of Winker Relay and Buzzer
Winker and Relay.jpeg I have an offshoot of the Spree called a Honda Flush, not sold for export. It is missing all fairings and as a result the turn signal winker relay and buzzer are hanging down, exposed from the handle bar wire chassis wiring. Where do they reside in your models? Later, I did fi...

Re: NQ50 Oil Pump Operation
Though I can still premix oil with fuel as some do to untrustworthy pumps or negative experiences (burning up an engine due to no lubrication), I've concluded that this style pump of mine is missing a cartridge at the inlet. The cartridge would be double-acting, like a hand soap or lotion dispenser....
