Crashing
Greetings: Texas has a provision in its laws to procure a "helmet exemption" sticker for the license plate. Riders over 18 who have completed a rider's ed course or can prove solvency can apply the $5 sticker to the tag and ride lidless with impunity. I have the sticker on my Sportster but...

Polini
Greetings:
I got the 47 mm kit from Daywot. We struck a deal for it + Keli + 1000 RPM spring. We'll see how it goes together. Got all the parts prepped tonight while I have clean hands. Sort of.

And The Polini Jet Size Is...
Unknown! The kit jet is unmarked, but appears to these rheumy eyes to be indistinguishable from crud-encrusted stocker. The instructions say to run this one, so I will. The generic instructions for the various other kits go on for pages but the -034 kits say only that-replace the jet. For sure I wil...

Personal Protective Equipment
Greetings: Dropped it a few times have we Kenny? I was kidding about the flipflops. You kids at home, always ride with proper clothing and head protection! To do otherwise may result in serious personal injury or death . Or at least a really nasty road rash. Could get infected. 40 years with more po...

Ignition
Greetings:
Kenny's absolutely right. He told me and I tried it myself. The battery was in the dumpster at the time. Big blue spark!

Greetings: Having great respect for your experience, I still disagree. Ideally the piston/cylinder clearance should not be as small as possible. It should be correct. Honda-san blew up more engines than all of us here combined ever will. What his engineers learned was the ideal cold clearance needed...

Engines and Needles
Greetings: Mine's an '87 NB50. No reason to believe it's not stock, down to the valve stem caps on the tires. You're taxing what's left of my brain cell, but IIRC my stock needle is silver, and has but three clip positions. To reassemble the stock 50 for now,, I put the clip in the middle one of cou...

Crackin' Pump Gears
Greetings: Thanks KM! You're the Bill O'Reilly to Bear's Katic Couric. :) I truly appreciate you're trying to help. However since I've heard it can be done without incurring the eternal wrath of the Scooter Deities (or is that DIO-ties?), I intend to keep on pumpin' my oil. No messy premixing for me...

Motorcycle: Scooter = Guitar: Ukelele
Greetings: Despite the inflammatory title, I wish to write in praise of my "new" Aero. Y'see, whenever I decide to run an errand on the Sportster, it's a bit of an ordeal. Ya gotta pull out the vest with all the pins and patches, the tough-looking knuckle gloves, the Engineer boots, the go...

Jets
Greetings: Thanks CVJ! I don't think my main is as large as a 100. If I understand correctly, he went down to a 95 when he installed the bigger jug? It sounds contrary to what everyone else is saying, but you can't argue with the results. 45 with 65 ccs is impressive. How's the plug color? Ayway tha...

Half-Step Richer
Greetings:
Raising the needle (lowering the clip) is enough? A jet comes with Polini's kit, but I don't know the size yet. Also I could not read the markings on my stock Main. Any help here is appreciated.

'87 Aero Stock Main Jet Size?
Greetings:
Found a kit that comes with a #88 main jet. Is this stock for the '87 Aero? Request starting size recommendation for 65cc Polini kit?

Compression
Greetings: Stock CR is 6.6:1 on the '87, according to Honda-san Manual. Presumably that's a mathematical ratio taking the port timing into account. That means the combustion chamber volume is 7.576-ish cc in the C.C. 50 to 65 cc is a 30% jump in displacement. Try stuffing 65cc into that volume ( ass...

Carb Cleaning
Greetings: There's no way to tell how good/poor a job the P.O. did on your carb. Gas is "clean" going through the filter but the carb (and its very tiny passages) can gum up from evaporation if it sits for a while. The volatile parts of the gasoline evaporate out leaving a coating of solid...
