yes, technically most variators with the same boss diameter WILL work... but the stock ruckus variator has a wider face than the others which is why we swap to them.Mind you, you need to get more rpm out of your engine to use the full face of the variator though. the ruckus is 4 stroke which means i...

i just know that the earlier models have a restriction on them...and i dont know whether or not that restriction is in the variator or what... i just went to babbits and found the first year ruckus i could find. you should be able to order it from any year...but like i said 06-09 are the better mode...

honda calls it a "movable drive face" and the '08 ruckus variator part number is 22110-GBC-000 and costs about $40 brand new. there is a guy on these forums selling what we believe to be a ruck variator for $30obo

88 is okay, its not the dio motor by any means, but you should hit 40mph easily. with a pipe,carb, etc 50ish

edit: imo any scoot that is running is worth at least $200...if its titled...all the better. hey, even if its not running but still has title, $100 is a steal!
