Re: who lives in michigan
Traverse city here. I have a few long term buddies who ride peds. I even see another spree or 2 in town from time to time. My pedding buddy's neighbor has a spree they ride around. 2 guys i have known for 11 years next month both have honda ruckus.

86 spree. chinese bystarter vs. 85-86 bystarter conversion
I ordered a chinese bystarter for my '86 spree last week as the wires were missing from my stock one. I have no idea how long it will take to arrive. However, I also got a '85 spree on craigslist a few days ago which has a bystarter on it with wires. The carb on the 85 spree has a crushed bystarter ...

How much do those go for? Are you saying they are 3k or 3k less than the other one?

Kk loving the input. I might end up getting a ruckus as those are sold here locally. Zuma also has my attention for the additional speed, 2 stroke power, and 117 mpg or something.

Re: What are the odds?
Looks like you got a lot done in 1 day haha. It takes me 4 hours just to clean a carb because I'm a rookie. Hopefully I manage to get some of those things done to my new spree tomorrow. Unfortunately I have to work the next 2 days so I wont get as much done as I would like. I would say there is a 50...

Would need to be a 2-stroke, or larger than 50cc.

Most reliable, low maintenance NEW 50cc scooter? SUGGESTIONS
I currently have a 1986 spree and I would like to upgrade next year with my income tax return. I figure the best approach would be to go with a brand new scoot so I don't have to carry any extra baggage from PO's. I am looking to buy something that will just keep spinning that odometer without a hit...

Re: What are the odds?
It looks like your luck is better than mine. I went to look at a spree today and the guy selling it was a total hothead and tried rushing me. The 85 spree was like 90% complete and he said it had compression and spark but he was rushing me rather suspiciously. I had talked him down to 120 from 200 o...

Re: 86 stock Spree issue, suggestions welcome
Was the exhaust gasket you installed part #1 in the attached diagram? My spree bogs when I hit bumps. I am decarbonizing my muffler soon so I might as well check if that gasket is missing on mine. Of course, my spree bogs down when I go down hills too lol but it doesn't seem to stall, just recovers ...

Who's bystarter is not closed? Mine or the chinese ebay one? When i took my bystarter out it looked like it was pretty far out. I remember thinking that it should fit snug all the way in the hole when i put it back on the carb.Bear45-70 wrote:NO! Bystarter not closed, runs too rich at idle.

Re: 86 spree carb question. I found a hole...
Finished putting the moped back together. Your guides on wikispreedia were fantastic! I also cleaned and oiled the airbox and changed the spark plug with a proper gap. The gap in it from the previous owner was 0.2 mm  and my new plug is set within specs of 0.6 mm to 0.7 mm :2thumbs: . 1. My s...

Re: 86 spree carb question. I found a hole...
unfortunately there are ZERO wires coming from the bystarter so I guess I need to find a replacement. I didn't see a way to open it up and place new wires on it. I'm not even completely sure where it plugs into although I found an unused 2-prong plastic connector in the jumble of wires about 8 inche...

Re: 86 spree carb question. I found a hole...
Do you think i can just ignore it for now and fix it later or does it cause problems after the spree is started without those wires?
