Pull out the starter gear assembly (not the starter) and make sure that the gear to the starter ring is moving in/out.

Only restrictor is in the exhaust, and this only on Iowa models. If you want ideas on exhausts, look at other performance pipes on the market for 50cc mopeds. You would rather have an expansion pipe with a pass-through silencer than a baffled exhaust as in stock. It's arguable whether you would go f...

No, countersteering means that you push away from you on the right side grip to turn right (as opposed to pulling it towards you, like you do on a bicycle at low speed.) This takes effect at about 15-20 MPH, and is a bigger deal on larger bikes than smaller. I've never "countersteered" a S...

Dojo,

Asking a lot of questions is fine, crossposting is not. Refer back to tech help for the same question. I'm locking this post.

Dojo, An 80cc pipe will likely be too large, an 50cc enduro pipe should be sized closer. Problem is that these engines aren't highly tuned. An exhaust of 19mm diam for the initial downpipe is about the right size for these given the current porting. That happens to be the same size as the current ex...

Restrictor is in the exhuast PIPE, not port. Look inside the pipe inlet, if it's there you'll see it. Only exists on Iowa models.

$500's not a bad price IF the bike is in good cosmetic shape. I think Jim's been studying these for awhile now. If you can drive a stick shift car you should be fine. Do you know how to countersteer a bike?

On this note: I'd like to get the parts list manual on this site as well. Anyone have an electronic copy of this that I could post here? I'd like to have access to the Honda parts numbers here.

Sounds like it's running rich. Either the intake is plugged somewhere, or a jet is loose (I assume the carb is clean.) How's the aircleaner?

Glad to hear the site helped you out. Good idea on the baby seat... but I'm not sure I'm going to try it.
