I've got the Miller 135. It's the 110v unit. Running on 110 limits the current and thus the thickness you can weld. Within it's capacity it is a sweet machine. For most anything you would do on a scooter it works fine. I have used the flux core wire but prefer the gas shielding as it makes a cleaner...

It's amazing what people who never look up think when they see perfectly normal cloud formations.

I've seen clouds from both sides now

I can see the attraction of the cost. A $1500 welder would be a better choice but I expect out of your price range. If you don't have welding experience don't expect to be an expert out of the box. In spite of what the box says. Get some clean scrap metal and practice, practice, practice. The welds ...

For best results you should attach a small thremostat to the head and turn the fan on only when it comes up to temp. Too much cooling air and it will never get warm enough to run properly.

Finally made it out for some more runs. The drive ratio is set up so that it just barely has enough power to reach the 8000rpm where the pipe starts working. It took about a mile for the rpms to slowly come up. Once the pipe took hold it pulled to about 11k rpm at 37.3mph. The big problem is the sin...

The motor is the same as the Spree with the addition of a variable front pulley. While there are no off the shelf commercial parts available quite a lot can be done to them. Check my Spree test bed for mods thread for what I have done. There is also a Pal thread of things I have done to my Pal. keithw

Some fiberglass cloth and regular epoxy might work also.

I have replaced studs in other applications with stainless steel with very good results. The answer for those is heat, penetrating oil, and patience. The magic juice I like is a home made mixture if half acetone and half ATF. Read about it in an off road magazine. In their testing is worked better t...

I used a snowmobile dial tach. These are run by the lighting or battery charging coil. I tapped into the AC side of the rectifier block. I couldn't get it to do anything tapping into the ignition circuitry. It looks like they are built to measure the AC frequency of the charging coil.

The gauge in the picture is in F. A general rule of thumb is half way in the gauge is the normal operating range. So far I haven't had problems running 350 to 400 F. It it started going toward 450 I think I'd back off some. These engines tend to run better as they get hotter, right up untill the pis...

It has a CDI. There is a magnetic pickup on the bottom of the flywheel that triggers it. Inside the flywheel there are a couple of coils. One to charge the battery and the other to run the lights. Wiring diagrams ara available in the tech documents section.

Most likely not. It's always a good idea to check the spark plug after any modification to see how it's burning.

Isn't the e the one with the AF05E engine like the Spree? Check my thread on Spree test bed for mods. Milling the head and porting the exhaust don't seem to have hurt reliability and do improve the top speed. Rather than rehash (and retype) everything I've done check out that thread. I also posted p...

Yes I think that a 24 would be way too short. The 25 is as short as I could get to fit. I had modified my front pulley and installed spacers behind to get the geometry correct. I had to move most of them back between the pulley halves to keep the 25 from being too short. The belt added a couple mph ...

I dug through my pile of bits and found the belt I had gotten for the Pal that turned out to be too short. It fit the Spree just fine. I had to back off most of the pulley mod. Just seat of the pants it is a real dog off the line now.The top speed looks to be a touch higher and the peak rpm is right...
