Re: I think I need a new crank
Crank is probably fine. The slop youre feeling is the crank bearings…which are not fine. Keep running it like that and pretty soon the crank will not be fine. Crank bearing replacement requires a full teardown of the engine case and a few specialized tools. Flywheel puller, crank puller, v-blocks an...

Re: 2001 Honda Elite Newbs 1st Scooter
Install the bigger jug and try to dial it in with just swapping main jets. Before you go drilling anything, you may not need to. The Polini sport bore can be ran fine with the stock carb but not the race bore. If I were more familiar with the Malossi cast Id be able to answer your question. You can ...

Re: 2001 Honda Elite Newbs 1st Scooter
Im not familiar with the Malossi cast. I know that tuning will be a bear with the stock carb not having a pilot to play with. Drilling it is risky since you cant go backwards and you never know when you’ll need a good stock carb to grab off the shelf. Wheelman played with the Malossi’s a bunch. He i...

Re: Dio af18 project🔥
I know the Corsa and it loses steam after 10k without extensive port work. Spin it high as you want with 3g rollers but you wont get the top end speed. Great for popping wheelies and getting a nice slingshot effect off the starting line…then it will fall on its face since the variator only opens hal...

Re: Dio af18 project🔥
Who is telling you to use 3g rollers? Do they even make those?!? Dont use those. Think of roller weight as a TOTAL weight, not individual. So if you use six 6g weights your total is 36g. I would not go less than 30g total weight or else your “Sharpie Test” will never reach the top. The lighter you g...

Re: Dio af18 project🔥
What RPM’s are you topping out at? If your sharpie lines indicate the belt not reaching high enough, it could be a few reasons. Like…wrong width or worn belt, wrong size variator boss, rollers too light, RPM’s too low, incorrect or too heavy contra spring, etc….it also could be the Motoforce clutch ...

Re: Not getting fuel help!
You’ve confirmed you have fuel flow when you kick it while the fuel line is disconnected but when the fuel line is connected to the carb and you kick it a bunch…the bowl is still empty?

Re: Not getting fuel help!
Try to start it while shooting a couple blasts of starting fluid into the carb at the airbox connection. If it fires but immediately dies..that narrows it down. Ive never seen a float needle stuck in the seat unless the bike has been sitting for 10yrs but its possible. It could also be a plugged idl...

Re: 2001 Honda Elite S (De-restricted): Aftermarket Carb Suggestions Anyone?
If you plan on keeping the stock bore, keep the stock carb. The bystarter is a neat feature and Keihin is good quality. Youd be hard pressed to find anything that fits as good and matches up with the stock bore as well. Mess with main jets or needles if you need to but keep it. Clean the shít out of...

Re: 87 Elite Battery suggestions
Try to tighten the rear brake cable adjustment screw a few clicks. Just dont over-tighten and create drag. Inspect brake shoes and replace if needed. Shoes are cheap compared to buying a new wheel.

Remove the bell and use a flathead screwdriver to “slightly” pry up on each clutch shoe. Just enough to break it free from stuck and not over stretch the spring. Good idea to replace the springs if they look rusted together.

Re: 87 Elite Battery suggestions
Cheaper the better. The ones off ebay for less than $20 last me 3-4yrs with no issues. Would probably last longer if put em on a tender during winter months but I dont.

Gear oil should be changed but its not your problem. The issue likely lies under the kickstart covers. Im thinking belt or clutch.

Re: Electronic conversion for a Spree anyone?
The cost and time invested makes it hard to justify. Theres plenty of e-scoots on the market to choose from. Likely cheaper than a conversion would cost. Save yourself the headache and buy a turnkey”ready to ride” scoot. Fyi: I just upgraded the battery on my e-bike to a 52v 30ah and it was $799. Wi...
