Re: I am stumped... Suzuki FA50 problems please help
If you're getting lower revs at full throttle than half throttle it's maybe a too rich, or too lean problem at WOT. Did you try to move the needle in the slide up or down? Personally, I'd see what happens without the air filter. Did you check the reed valves?

Re: There's a hole in my header!
It's a bit smoky for sure but not a diesel! I was a bit worried about the emissions test but it turns out that 2 strokes & vehicles with less than 4 wheels are not tested for emissions. I went for a test run the other day on private land, it seems to have cleared a lot of the smoke so hopefully ...

Re: After Market Variator effect?
Ah, now I understand. I'm not sure how much room there is inside the case for a bigger variator but will see what's available.
Thanks
Thanks

After Market Variator effect?
I took my AE50 for a test run yesterday away from the public roads as it's not yet legal. All seems ok, the smoky exhaust cleared up after a few bursts at full throttle so that was a positive result. I couldn't get up to full speed as the test area wasn't long enough but I did get past 30 and saw no...

Re: Gyro Canopy not shifting
I was curious so did a bit of poking around. When you say 'shift' do you mean change gear? If so, I doubt it'll do that as it has a CVT according to WikiP. If a CVT would it have a clutch with plates or the usual centrifugal arrangement of a CVT? Could of course be that the CVT clutch shoes and/or s...

Re: There's a hole in my header!
Yeap, I'll keep it plugged for the short term as I don't want the smoke coming out from underneath while it's being tested. After that, I'm not too sure. I think the hole was made to let out water. If I run the engine for a while, oily water comes out of the exhaust so there must be a fair amount lu...

Re: There's a hole in my header!
Seems that plugging the small hole in the header was not causing the problem, it was a coincidence, maybe from tipping the scoot over to get at the header. Things got a bit worse to the point that I had to screw in the idle speed adjuster a long way and still could not get it to idle happily. I took...

Re: There's a hole in my header!
It's amazing that such a small hole can make what seems to be a major difference in starting and idling, I made no other changes, but it will be quick & easy to check. There is a repair on the header pipe a bit further along toward the muffler, it's wrapped with exhaust repair tape that's set ha...

Re: There's a hole in my header!
Nope, it's a really small hole and looks to be at the lowest part of the header on purpose. I've put a self tapping screw in for the moment and will get the pipe off to investigate further once I've been through the UK road worthiness (MOT) test. This scoot has not been on the road for quite a few y...

There's a hole in my header!
Anyone come across this? There's a small (1/8") hole drilled at the lowest point of the header on my Suzuki AE50. At first I thought it was a leak but it looks deliberate. I blocked it with a screw and it now won't start or idle as easily. Maybe it's there as a drain?

Re: Runs fine... when I can get it started!
OK, so I left it for over a week. Temperature outside was just about freezing point and the scoot showed no signs of wanting to start so I blew into the carb vent pipe while spinning the starter .... and it started almost immediately! I noticed before when I last had it running that the engine would...

Re: another bystarter question
Hi, difficult to start after a few days seems to be a common issue. I think what's happening is the carb empties over a few days due to evaporation and that includes the bystarter chamber in the float bowl. I found that turning the engine on the starter for a few seconds to allow the petcock to let ...

Re: Runs fine... when I can get it started!
I put a fuel filter just before the carb and can see that it's empty after a few days, so just like the Honda scoots and others the fuel must slowly evaporate. My Honda Vision will take a bit of starting after a couple of weeks but this one is just not playing ball. I tried it today and it started f...

Runs fine... when I can get it started!
OK, so first I have to confess this is not about my Honda Vision, but about a 1997 Suzuki AE50, known in Canada as a Hyper Scooter or Hi Up. I bought the scoot, seduced by it's apparently stock 6.5 BHP and with looks that are very similar to the Honda Spree with the intention of seeing if I could ge...
