Gonna shoe horn a CH80 into a spree

Post by mopar4u »

Well, just dropped off my naked spree to a guy to have him put a 80cc 4 stroke elite motor into my spree frame. Should be interesting. I got to drive and hear the 80cc so I know it runs. I told him to take pictures along the way. He says it should be done in a week. So far the plan is to use the elite 80 wiring harness, hand controls and obviously the motor/tranny. I want to be able to put the spree plastic back on, I may have to modify the exhaust side panel. I'll keep you posted. I can't wait to have a cvt tranny with 4 stroke torque. :coolcruise:

:2thumbs:
If this works, pipe, clutching and air filter mods will eventually be done.

I have an '87 CH80 Elite with 12K on the clock. It's pulling 45-46mph with a (new) stock muffler and pretty new belt. The only mods are a filter made from UNI green foam (glued into a stock paper filter cage with Seal-All) and 8g rollers in the variator. The filter and rollers helped overcome the boggy low end; It now pulls respectably to 27mph before variating into the high range. This works great on hills and taking off from traffic lights. I've looked at that muffler before, but word on the web indicated that the Battlescooter pipe was mostly noise with little gain. At least the downpipe looks to have a larger diameter than the stock pipe; I'd bet that's where the gain comes from.

If you do pipe it, check out your intake. I've rebuilt a few CH80s now and have found that the intake tract lines up poorly. Might be part of the reason why the Battlescooter pipe does so little. I'd look to improve the intake and see if it's possible to get some bigger jets.

What a total *. I have never seen one bit of proof you even have a scooter much less a fast one. Image
