Painting OEM rims on 1987 Aero 50

Post by S4Patrick »

Hello....

Can someone share their experiences with the proper/ successful way to paint a set of OEM rims for a Honda Aero 50?

Sanding, priming and then paint?

Is it best to take it to a body-paint shop and have it professionally done?

I'm REALLY diggin' NOVS86 Honda Aero 50 "Silver Bullet" paint job on the rims.

WOULD LOVE to know how he did it....

Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Post up pictures if you got any!

Best regards,

Patrick

If I'm gonna do rims, I will powder coat instead of paint. It will stand up better to what the rims have in their environment.

I have bead blasted, cleaned with MEK, put into an oven at 125' to warm them up. Then I used some left over Guncoat ( paint for firearms), and baked in the oven ( dont do this when the wife is home, she will kick your &$$).

So far, so good.
