  • IRC there is a stud center difference between the two jugs. 'ped boards have topics on PA50 vs AF05(Elite/Aero) kits. Gyro and AF05 have the same spacing.
  • Radial vs axial cooling fins are a big difference, but the PA50 had no cooling fan. Bored out I wonder if there's enough air flow on the rear facing cyl?
  • Stroke difference, PA50: 39.5mm, TG50: 37.4
Given the skills and drive of members - it may be someone can get one going.:. Parts fiche pic below give a very rough comparison.

Thanx a bunch for sharing your com-skill and enlightening me. Your time spent is appreciated. My curiosity to point in question is quite satisfied. If ever the time comes to tear down the Gyro, this info will help steer me another direction................mousewheels

  We need to start a graphics thread for you guys...

One thing I've wanted to see is an exhaust port comparison between the PA50 and TG50. I found a PA50 cyl measurement on the 'net, and scaled a TG50 to match. Gyro's are a little smaller stud to stud, but it does not look to be a show stopper.

I have a 1984 gyro that I bought last summer. After installing new rings since originals were stuck I know have good compression and it starts right up and sounds and runs good, but will not idle. Here is my problem. The original bystarter was broke, so I bought a aftermarket one from a scooter place in like Minnesota or somewhere that said it would work and they have used them many times. It looks perfect, just like the original down to the same color of wires. What happens is I cannot get any adjustment out of the carb to make it idle better. It will sit and run if I keep working the throttle. Also after running it up and down the street (which it runs out good for a funny little scooter) it will all of a sudden die like it just ran out of gas. I have had the carb off and cleaned it when I did the motor work. Could the aftermarket bystarter be messin with me? Any ideas??

Yeah, bystarter could affect as described.......more likely not ....if it starts easily, and runs pretty good, but dies when you throttle down, sounds more like the pilot jet is still clogged.....almost certain still a carb issue.....I would recheck pilot jet flow with carb-clean spray and watch for passage into carb throat......often times, the pilot will require overnite soak and compressed air to free up.......i've never opened a gyro carb yet.....but they are similar to all the small carbs I have been into.........good luck........ :urban:

A friend of mine went to Japan for a vacation 5/20/11 and sent these pics to me ...
Mine look great next to these I was going to ask him to bring back a shop manual but then remembered I don't read Japanese ,so it would probably be of no use to me .
