Suspicious hole on the exhaust...84 spree.
Hey there,
I am a recent but very proud owner of a'84 spree. I was tinkering around (aimlessly as I'm not particularly technical) and after having unscrewed the 'grill' like plate from the exhaust, I came across a poorly screwed hole just beneath and to the left of the hole to which the grill was attached. I'm of a mind that this 'hole' didn't come stock since the screw in it is very loose and unfitting and since I wasn't sure and didn't want anything falling off, I just applied a masking tape over the screw and am riding around as so.

I just want to know if I did the right thing or maybe if I should have left the hole open (let the exhaust breath more freely, perhaps??)
I just don't know, and I would like to be illuminated.
Thanks in advance.

Hello: If you can't weld it closed maybe clean it and the screw that was in it real good then jbweld epoxy it in the hole might hold.

Cheers!...Never used epoxy before, but I'll definitely look into it now that I know the hole shouldn't be there. I wonder why the previous owner put it there though...

The exhaust may be clogged so they made an extra exit? who knows why people do the things they do sometimes. Its probably been that way for 20 years

Re: Suspicious hole on the exhaust...84 spree.
Well, thanks for all the help, and my use of the tape was only intended to be 'temporary'...that is, until the most high and illuminated of spree owners could look down their noses and begrudgingly pass judgement.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Sometimes you just have to look over some people, it doesnt take a genius to work on a scooter. It is supposed to be for fun but some people are sour pusses no offense but there are some crabby folks around here sometimes. If it works who cares, more than one way to dig a hole lol have fun with the scoot

Knead some JB-weld or similar and spread over that hole. I did that to my scooter muffler and a hole in my trucks exhaust, my trucks been good since last fall. When it fails i will replace.EthioKnight wrote:my use of the tape was only intended to be 'temporary'...

I was a sad attempt at going faster on the spree.
It does not work.....it only makes the spree very loud.
Plug it up.......without the tape
evilone sugested JB weld..... That should do the trick.
