Craigslist '96 Elite 50, opinions?

The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

Craigslist '96 Elite 50, opinions?

Post by Chisholm »

Anyone have any opinions on this? I've already got a cherry Spree, but wouldn't mind something a little quicker (or with potential).

Looks alright, try to go a little lower on price.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

I forgot to mention that I thought it was too high. I was planning on shooting for 500 or less.

What is the difference between this and the Elite S, as far as performance capability? I guess, is this something to jump on, or should I just wait for an Elite S or similar?

Picked up my Spree earlier this month: 475 miles-w/ title- runs- $350
I'll post pictures later.

The elite S and the elite Sr are the same when it comes to modding.

the elite Sr has a slightly more restrictive tail pipe, and a split cable for the oilier.
And the Elite S has a resticker in the front pulley, and a washer in the tail pipe.
Other then that they are the same. This is a highly modable scooter.

my friend has one that looks just like that one, we put some 9:1 gears and high speed pulley($105) and he now can go 47mph all day long. Even 50+ downhill.

Its worth $600-$700, you will be lucky to get it for $500. A 94+ elite is a 94+ elite, there are some small differences in the front pulley(both in restrictor plates and ramp angles), the exhaust systems and the airbox/jetting.

But all parts interchange and its really easy to swap the jet and knock out the restriction plate in the airbox.

I do have the money for it, perhaps I could buy it then sell the Spree. I imagine it could fetch around 500, considering the current seller's market and what I've seen on eBay.
I'm thinking about going to look at a C70 later today, but it needs a lot of work (~$150).

Pricing

Post by bryanska »

The price is in line with what I am seeing in Minneapolis. Elites are not uncommon, but they're listing (and selling) for lots of money.

I paid $950 for my 2001 Elite SR, and had to bargain to get that. I've seen about six other Elites since June, between $900 and $1200.

If you guys can find Elites for $500, send them to me. I will split the profits!
The more I learn, the less I know.

I got my 94 Elite on the cheep and with under 500 miles. Keep looking and a nice one will pop up. A buddy of mine found a junker that fixed up nice and rode great. Ride that Spree untill one shows up.

The toy scooter is from Taiwan. We brought it back when I was a kid in the 80's. It's called, "Young Master".

I took those pictures at the guys house I bought it off of. Really just to document the purchasing process, since he's mailing me the title to it.
