Greetings

I've had a ton of stuff done over the past 3 years. It's cost me about 6 pizzas and two bags of Egg McMuffins. About every 6 months I show up with food. (For Lone Star Beer I'd be riding a Gold Wing with the Blow Job Saddle option.)

Seriously, about 15 minutes if you don't arrive bearing gifts.

lol I dont know them well enough yet to arrive bearing food :P I dont think they will do anything for free but I could be wrong. If the machine shop cant do it I will take it to the honda dealer on Thursday when I go to get the belt they ordered and a key made maybe they will do it for free since I have been buying a bunch of stuff :D I am usually charmed like that :coolcruise:

Greetings:

With 4 large Pizzas you will get to know them quickly.

A quarter_hour of shop time shouldn't exceed $30. Make a deal up front.

I dont know what I did wrong but I sanded down my panels today and painted them gloss black, one panel turned out alright but the other one bubbled up BAD, I know spray paint is cheap but it shouldnt do that. This sucks, now I gotta let it dry completely and sand it down and try again. I do not want a * paint job :P

I finally got the paint off the panel i messed up, boy was it a chore too. That valspar plastic paint from lowes really won't chip or scratch off let me tell you. I had to spray paint stripper gel stuff on it and it still didnt want to come off plus the gel eat away parts of the top surface of plastic O.o then I had to wash and go back with some graphetti remover to get the rest of the gooey paint off. let it dry and sanded it down good. I have the first light coat on going to let it dry for 30 mins to an hour before i put the next light coat on, i figure 3 coats with a last acrylic clear coat will make the plastics look new and shiny for several years. Next time i will pay somone to paint cause I have had a time doing it :P

Picked up another light bar set today to go on my scoot. The first set was smaller and I burned them up hooking them through a toggle without a fuze. This time I made the wire with alligator clips to hook to the battery with a fuze in the line that connects to a cigarette lighter plug. Now I just plug the light bar in with the cig plug it came with and during a ride I can charge a phone or charge my ipod :D I already know running stuff off the battery will eat it up but LEDs at night and a plugged up ipod every now and then won't hurt. If I notice my battery going dead I will plug up a solar trickle charge during the day to give it an added boost and yes the panel has a built in diode so it stops charge once the battery is full :P All I really care about at this point is my effects lighting. Got my brake cable and throttle cable in today, emgo 28mm pod filter and a few other odds and ends should be arriving in a few days. Its basically down to 2 pieces, should hear about my kickstart housing tomorrow, not sure about the rear tire I would like one from a 94-01 elite but I may have to settle for an 87 aero with 3.0x10 tire till I can do something better. I know I can get the aero wheel with tire at the salvage yard, thanks wheelman for the info on tire fitment. I have a bad habit of being obsessive about whatever it is I am doing mwwhahah

Figured out why my other Spree is hard to start sometimes. I looked at the carb and it appeared to be seeping a very small amount of gas sooo I took everything off so I could get to it. I decided to check the bystarter since I know the carb is clean. I know the bystarter off the other Spree works fine sooo. I took the bystarter off and what do you suppose I found? The o-ring on the bystarter was broken and half disentigrated :D I put the other one on, bolted it down, and she cranked right up :D Something as simple as an O-ring can cause the Spree to hard start or not start at all.

Looks like everything is coming together for you. :) I'm starting to get into scootering and I picked up an 86 Spree and 12/1998 which would make it 1999 Elite AF16E. I have been looking around the forums and I couldn't find ChevyGuyJay motor mount install how to without hacking anything. So, I see that you use your Elite motor mount and just trimmed the piece that goes into the Spree frame. What I find fascinating is your custom made shock bracket. How do I get a hold of one? I am following your build since I'm doing the exact same. Keep it up since you're doing such a good job!

Thanks for the reference Traffic.

As far as the motor mounts go, I have good news. I was able to pick up a junk yard state Spree for cheap. It's missing a lot of parts, but the engine isn't seased. I'm going to be doing a part out soon.

I digress.....Anyway...I think it was TrafficJamz himself who challenged me to build a "bolt on" (no cutting of the spree frame) motor mount for the AF16 swap. All I need now is an elite mount to experiment with. First one to send me one gets a free "bolt on" motor mount.

Yea rich is the man, he hooked me up with the shock mount prototype and it worked perfectly. I will be putting it all together tomorrow and going to test the hex bolts verses the allen head bolts. I have done cut my mount rich or I would send you mine. I got the rest of the parts I needed at the salvage today :D even got the front fork and brake hub from the elite for when I modify the front while I was there. I checked on that front rack and it wasnt there rich but I did get the rear rack if you need that, if not i can modify it to fit the spree. As it happens the 87 aero wheel does fit the af16 and my kickstart housing is in the mail should get it tomorrow :D I am so ready to get this thing put together so i can get her on the road. Thanks for the compliments Sprite. Most of the credit goes to the people here at the forum, without the excellent advice and guidance from some I would never have been able to get this far :D

Mystic if you have the rear end bolted together could you please take a rear end from the the tail of the frame down to the rear wheel picture. For some reason when I shaved down my elite mount motor did not line up properly and was shifted to more to the left. I would like to verify since I shaved the exact same side just like yours. Thanks!!!
