Hi everyone.
Update for news :
Last november some kind of a sucker hit me face on and ruined my scoot (and badly bruised my knees too).
The mudguard, front face where badly broken.
The chassis had nothing, neither the fork.
Hopefully, the d*ckhead was insured and they paid for everything up to my expectations.
No spare parts to be found, no stickers, no nothin' bro'...
What to do? Write it off (destruction)? The insurance offered to repair it up to 1000 Euros. That is a heck of a lot of money, because the market price is around 250/400 Euros for these scoots here. And at that price, you get something looking really tired.
So, had a guy I know do a pricing for a full repaint, redoing ALL the stickers, reparing the fairings etc...make it new!
He asked for 1200Ôé¼...they discussed with the insurance knowning I did not want to have it salvaged/destructed. And I insisted on my wanting it to be as new after repair.
We setteled on 994 Euros so that the insurance said ok, go for it.
I just picked it up yesterday!!! I took forever...
The stickers were scanned. Badly made. I showed my anger...
They did it over again 3 times before I said okay!
All the stickers were done, even the "Helmet Holder", "tire pressure", warnings...etc. Everything.
All the black parts were repaired if needed (soldered, reinforced, staples...), painted black, then the stickers put on, and finally I asked them to put 2 coats of clear coat to protect paint AND stickers (which is not the way it's done out of the factory...so it's better than new now).
The guy also sanded and painted the plastic fork protectors (they were slightly scrapped), the plastic exhaust protection (scrapped) and painted the exhaust and the LHS crankcase (also lightly sanded) only were needed (verrrrry lightly scraped underneath).
The top box was also painted (black plastic embedded color). But they didn't accept to copy and print the Rickman stickers on it because were we limited to 1000 Euros (sticker operation was over 200Ôé¼ alone...if I recall well : 300Ôé¼. Don't have the prices because the invoice was for the insurance
).
I know have what I think is the cleanest Honda in France or Europe...
I'll do a shooting next, but here is are some pictures. I have yet to clean it up...
During the reassembling time :
Almost there (I did the rear part because the mechanic was to busy on other projects...) :
Some details on the sticker job :
Fun time!
It started up with 3 trys on the electric starter (to make the gas come in the carb) and 3 kicks. And I rode it home just as if it had never been stopped for 10 months. I had the battery at home on a little maintenance charger (I had just changed it 3 days before the accident).
So know it's got around 7600 kilometers and still looking new!
