It's kinda the opposite of what I thought it would look like inside. I thought the cone would have been reversed.

Later, Thanks again for the pics!

Its got the normal chamber style cone. They just put that outer cone like that for sound reasons.

Ok I went with this style of packing. It new from fmf and it supose to be quiter than the standard white fiberglass packing.I will report on how the sound is with the new packing in there.

All welded up and ready to be used.

So you just literally stuff it into the back of the pipe, and then reweld the cap back on?

yeah thats how they did it.The packing they used was a small piece and didn't do much in cutting down the sound.I wrapped the new stuff around the baffle and a little more on the top part as there is more room on top but didn't pack it in tight to make it to tight in there.just tapping on the outside of the can I can tell it sounds more dead in there. The only way to know now is to put it on.

Ok so I put it on and fired it up today.the sound of the exhaust is much softer than before and now I can hear the carb more than the exhaust when I rev it up.it still has the deeper exhaust tone vs the pg typhoon which has the ding ding ding sound.plus with the inner pipe out of the exhaust tip the flow is harder and the sound is good.so basicly taking the back cap off and changing out the baffle packing did help in cutting down the exhaust noise some.now time to ride it around town to see if it gets louder.

This is the middle section of the pg long. If you get baffle rattle, this id the guy thats making the noise.they just put really small tack welds to hold it and break off.

cut this section to get to it better.

Why not figure out away to make the pipe cap a slip on arrangement, held in place with a couple of screws, rather the cutting and rewelding it?

that middle section is not the end cap.thats where the baffle rattle is so have to cut it.

Ah. I see.

So how is the volume level after riding it for awhile? And what was your reasoning for drilling out the holes in the baffle piece on the endcap (performance or quietness)?

it made it quiter after drilling the holes and putting the new silencer packing but its still loud.the end baffle is too short and the stinger pipe is too short too.

The pg long's second end section is backwards from a "traditional" tuned pipe?

Could the rear cone be reattached the opposite direction, and a stinger type silencer be added?

im sure it can. they did it like that to save in material and to keep cost down i bet. silencers are pretty expensive for the size. use that fmf pink cotton candy packing instead of the usual white firberglass stuff. the pink stuff is suppose to make 10% quieter than the white packing.
