Greetings:

To me the main reasons for the Met rim is that the width is correct to mount 90/90 tires. The 1.85 Elite and Aero rims make the profile of the bigger tires look like a bit like a light bulb. Tubeless tires arguably are a bit safer in the event of a high-speed flat - the bead holder keeps things in position, so the tire won't "dislocate" and immediately force a crash. I have flatted both types, and the stiffer tubeless tires are easier to control.

thats interesting. I was wondering how the brakes handle with some ppl doubling the speed of their aeros almost.

Greetings:

The Aero and early Elite 80mm drums result in extra purchases of OxyClean for laundry management.

The late Elite and Met front Drum diameters are 95mm. These are barely adequate to slow down assertively from 60 or more MPH. You can do it, but only once. Very little danger of locking up the front wheel, which is sort of a good thing if you're not experienced at maximal braking. Still there's that definite uncertainty if you have to stop in a hurry, and I've frequently wished for stronger stopping power.

Greetings!

I have completed this swap with total success on my 86 Aero and it made a night and day difference. The change in tire profile and tubeless selection made hard cornering not just a possibility but confidence inspiring as well. The added front braking power is nothing short of amazing compared to stock and will fully bottom out the front suspension and try to raise the rear.

My setup is as follows:
Elite front panel
Metro front an rear wheel
Aero front spacer
S1 sporty tubeless tires

Everything else is suspension wise is stock and has me wishing for an upgrade!

Hope this helps. I can post pics if you like.

Good day,
AeroVol

Forgive me for the not so great pictures, I took them on my lunch break.

As you can see he's skittles rough around the edges (broken turn signal, scratched up panels, torn up seat etc) but the black wheels really do look great and do a great job too!

Cheers,
AeroVol

I used all the parts stated in my previous post and it all bolted up like original.

I just bought a bunch of parts for a 2004 Ruckus (engine ruined with no oil) I did not get the frame or engine (obviously)
But I did get front and rear rims/tires (tires are like new) fork, brakes...

Any chance this will fit on my '86 Aero 50?
I can post pics if there is even a chance...

well..... the ruckus/ metropolitan brakes are the same and the metro brakes work on the elite. so this sounds like the ruckus brakes will work on the aero. only one way to find out for sure.
