Oh the stem will fit right up to a 93 elite. Its the Elite E that wont fit or the 87 elites. But if I get a frame for those models I will adapt a stem to those models too.

DD50 front ends are easy to get, it's just the stem that's missing, I don't want to buy a whole NCY front end when I only really need 1 piece :P
Yeah the NCY front is a very middle line product. I'll probably do 5 or 6 kits and do a whole bunch of stems.

I'm look at all the costs for the stems, its going to be around 250. That's ball park. If I can find the right dealers and metal shops around here I can cut out the shipping. The NCY kit is 400. We have a local dealer I'm trying to get with to see if I can cut that price. I have tried to contact NCY the company itself to set up an account. No word yet. So that's the cost I'm looking at right now. I want to go lower then that. I might be able to piece kits together for even cheaper, but finding a direct distributor is the hard part.

What NCY kit are we talking about? the dio conversion setup costs around $800...

As far as pricing, is that $250 for just the stem? kinda steep, I wouldn't pay that for just the one piece.

i agree. The price is high. As of now the prototype is being designed and made. It the cost of materials that is killing the price. I dont want to put out a product that will easily bend or break. So quality is a must. But price is not set of yet. Ill keep you guys posted.

they already have a kit for the 94_01 elite 50 s bikes.it comes with the stem and full ncy frontend parts for disc brake For around $750 and I believe it comes with the rear rim too.as for getting away with not cutting the under panel, there is no way around it. that under panel was designed for the factory frontend. when swapping to disc some clearance will be needed due to the wider triple for the disc setup. there are several shops in hawaii that sells that kit already.

Yeah, I know about moped plus. Even VT used to sell the same kit for 600. That's where I got the idea from. The kit does include 2 RPM wheels. And yes, you do have to cut the fairing. But, what i'm trying to do is to make an affordable kit, and also have a triple tree that will clear all the plastic. We have the design already on CAD. We just need to start making the prototypes to test fit.

What I see the problem with the front disk brake kit from moped plus is that it is 750. Not just that, they are located in hawaii. We all bought parts from hawaii...and we all know the shipping cost are. Also, I've tried to just buy that stem alone. No shop in hawaii has the stem alone for sale. I've tried to buy that stem for the last 3 years. No luck...unless you guys got a guy? And on that note you still got to cut up the plastics to fit it.

I've also tried to buy just the stem, and no shop will do it. If they sold stems, nobody would ever buy the whole kit unless they just had money to blow :P
As far as Hawaii shipping prices, welcome to my world :P

I don't care about cutting/modding (I would never cut my panel, just heat and remold) but at $250 for just a stem, the NCY kit doesn't sound that bad considering you are basically paying $500 for 2 aftermarket rims, aftermarket fork legs, a master cylinder with line, etc. I don't know what you are using for material, but stock stems are are just a cast bottom piece with a hollow tube, maybe you could look towards cheaper tooling/material?
