No, the Met brakes don't work on the elite. The Elite forks are narrower then the Metro forks, maybe with some modifying you can get them to fit.

They do have the same drum size, but the actual brake components won't fit.

Greetings:

The tangs on the Met brake panel is mounted radially to the axle to mate with the lug on the Met fork, which is telescopic. It would be hard to get to engage with the lug on the trailing link of the Elite. Just get the '94-up brake panel, often found for ~$20 on eBay.

I'm bringing this thread back to life because it was the most informative thread on this site on installing a met front wheel on an aero.
I recently did the swap on my 85 aero with the following parts mentioned in this thread.
New met wheel
Elite panel
Aero hardware
Aero cable.

The cable as mentioned before can work, but does not fit perfectly and should be replaced by an elite cable.

When installing the axle however I noticed the front wheel looked slightly off center when using the aero spacer. Upon further inspection I noticed the spacer is in fact the correct size, and that the elite panel is actually skinnier than the aeros.
Has anyone else run across this, and if so did you just use washers to fill the gap on the panel side??

This picture is with the wheel slid toward the spacer side of the axle, nice a snug like it should be. This position locates the wheel dead center, and leaves roughly 3/16" of space(dead center of picture) on the panel side.

Found some temporary washers and it tightened everything up. Together they are 3/16" thick.

sorry if i'm exhuming a dead thread here, but I have a flat on my 87 spree, and after some research on here it sounds like I can replace the whole wheel with one from a metro, with a 90/90/10 tire, is that correct? or should I just get a replacement tire instead?

I don't think you can use metro wheels on a spree.

Hi 1man8scoots. the Metro wheel will not fit the spree forks. I believe he was talking about the aero?

Hi. the Metro wheel will not fit the Spree forks. the elite wheel with a metro hub can be modified to fit.
it would be easier to just replace the tire. Gl.

Greetings:

The Spree rear brake diameter is smaller than the 95mm of the Aero, SE05 and SA16's 95mm, so the Met wheel won't easily adapt to a Spree case. Possibly the axle is wrong too.

Greetings:

There's always SOME way, but it might involve cutting the hub out of the Spree wheel and welding up the rim of a Met or Elite to it. Hard to make true and frankly more trouble than most people wish to endure.
