Not your OEM belt.
Went to my local parts store today and picked up a 1/2'' x 24'' belt for my spree. It is a solit belt and the one one there now has notches on the underside like a cog. Is this belt ok or should i get a different one?
thanks
Mike
thanks

Re: Not your OEM belt.
You need a cogged belt, the solid one will not work.

Re: Not your OEM belt.
Gotta have a cogged bolt for the tight turns and low clearance.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Try local hardware store, the one as old as your town.

Try Honda. Lees Summit is a part of the Kansas City metropolitan area, Surely there's a Hondasan in KC.

He's after a generic belt to modify gear ratio. I love living in an ex industrial area, I can go to a store that sells nothing but belts, it's great.Lunytune wrote:Try Honda. Lees Summit is a part of the Kansas City metropolitan area, Surely there's a Hondasan in KC.

Got my belt today. Had to go a town over, but found it at a rubber warehouse place going to put it on right.... now.
One question though, what kind of gain might i see?
Thanks

Why reinvent the wheel when there is the right product out there, specifically designed for the purpose.Kenny_McCormic wrote:He's after a generic belt to modify gear ratio. Because the SAE belt is wider and shorter, which should convert to a gear ratio change, which in turn should result in a higher top speed if the horsepower is present to support it.Lunytune wrote:Why reinvent the wheel when there is the right product out there, specifically designed for the purpose.Kenny_McCormic wrote:He's after a generic belt to modify gear ratio. because the variator-less drivetrain is limited, and nobody makes gears for the spree. instead, we spreetards have to be creative in the mods departmentLunytune wrote:Why reinvent the wheel when there is the right product out there, specifically designed for the purpose.Kenny_McCormic wrote:He's after a generic belt to modify gear ratio. honda-san did not use a 1/2 inch belt, likely due to the fact that he builds metric things and has no clue what an inch is, nor how to fractionalize it.
every mph you can milk out of a spree feels like an accomplishment, and cuts down on travel time.

Re: Not your OEM belt.
Yeah, but I like your answer better. Mine was way to factual. I especially liked the term "variator-less".Spreetard wrote:because the variator-less drivetrain is limited, and nobody makes gears for the spree. instead, we spreetards have to be creative in the mods department

Okay, Okay, you win.
So okay, now tell us which belt. I may try it on my E.
