****Un-Official Scooter Build Contest****

Post by mr pibbs »

I thought it would be great to catch up on all the builds throughout the year with a scooter build contest.
The rules are simple and meant to be broken:

1. Only one entry per person
2. Restorations are welcome, (engine rebuilds welcome)
3. Use as many pictures as you like, but don't be rediculus - and remember, a picture is worth athousand words
4. It would be best if the scooter had been built/restored in the past year, or atleast completed in the past year
5. Entries will be judged on overall awesomeness

After entries have been made, a poll will be added with all the scooters and votted on by all.

The Prize: respect.

Sounds cool pibb's, great idea!!!!!

Rather than ton's of pic's though, just have a before and after.
It's more dramatic that way...

I have a 3 x 4 inch Honda with wing decal that I would donate as a prize.

I'm sure others on here can come up with something to donate as well!

Just my two cents....
I'd rather be riding my Aero!

My vote to nominatarize Trae Shelton's Born to Kill. (Or is its actual name "Dribble Butt"? Please say it's the first thing... :nervous: )

I know this is your baby pibbs, so I hope you don't mind my input.

Maybe you could have a couple of classes?

For instance using shelton's as a example ...... his would be in a "stock theme category" and something like capturedbyrobots standup ped would be in "original re-design". As well as like what toast came up with when he created his latest drag spree.

I'm just saying that multiple categiries would be cool since they can't all be classified as the same type of build.

just my two cents......

well said young man.
someone give that boy a commission...

but yes- a couple categories. but just.

keep it simple.

so...
this is a Spree/Elite type of build contest or a free for all?

i suggest a simple Spree/Elite/Aero only approach.for the first one...

Thanks for the nomination !

The first vehicle that i had was a 1952 army jeep , my dad bought it from a guy that restores old military vehicles .. From what i have been told ALOT of the old jeeps were given names by the soldiers that used them .. The name of my jeep was Dribble Butt , i thought it was only fitting that i name my scooter Dribble Butt II .

One of my favorite movies of all time has to be FULL METAL JACKET , most all of the ideas for the scooter came from the movie .. the number on the side of the scooter is the platoon number for the marines while at Paris Island

I am very fortunate to have a friend that owns a body shop and a friend that is a graphic artist/designer , with the use of my buddies tools , computers and knowledge it makes my projects fairly simple !

I have 7 more sprees that i hope to " redo " over the winter , plus my wife does not mind me " living " in the garage !

Scooter Category Proposal

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

With the understanding that all are welcome to post suggestions, I propose the following categories:

Stock Restoration - this requires re-using air from the year the scooter was built in the tires. Deviations from Honda-san's original design will not be tolerated.

Street/Strip Performance - Dragstrip time slips and Lap Times from Nurburgring optional. Must be street-legal with current tag.

Themed Paint Jobs - Concepts like Dribble Butt II (** shudder **)

Full-Race Scooters - like Bee-Tee's Albino Spree

Wacky Stuff - like the Stand-up PedAero from Cali.

Suggestions for changes to these categories - or additional categories - are welcome, as are nominatarizations.

I thought you'd appreciate the sweet Validation, Novs86. Glad you're on board with this. Have you any constructive suggestions, or do you just like to click the "Rolleyes" button?

I love it. I am not offended at all - this is why have the forum: for everyone's input.

Do we need/want a post for each category? too many posts? My hope is that this doesn't become another picture post clogged with comments, but more about folks showing off their work.

Keep the ideas rolling.

Greetings:

Yeah, 5 categories is a lot to post. Wacky scooter-based stuff is a good one. So's Stock Resto, if the extent of work is documented. (No fair taking the Wheelman-weaselly-way of buying a basically new scooter and calling it "restored".)
That leaves paint jobs and performance/tuning as a class, but does making this a single class make any sense?

I'll set up stickies for 3 or 4 classes once we decide what they should be. I can post up nominees as a poll. Forum Democracy will prevail. Noisy, got any suggestions?
