quick battery chat

Post by odinxxix »

the spree comes with 12v 4Ah right?
now is the 4Ah mainly needed to power the elec starter when used? i no longer use my starter cause bbk wont allow it.
so i have a 12 2.5Ah think that will do fine to run the lights and signals? it came from the p o s motorcycle i have thats not worth fixing. selling the motor to a gut for a shifter kart.

Short answer - since you have a 'free' used battery on hand - give it a go! If you were buying a new battery, it would be worth getting the OEM size.

If the little battery is old, or weak, your turn signals may not flash at idle.

A spree will run with no battery. If you put that battery on your scoot it will work, but it is not really doing anything except maybe making your tail light a little brighter at idle.

A properly charged 5ah battery WILL crank over a 44mm BBK for a spree. I have one and have electric start ONLY.

Greetings:

The stock starter mechanism struggled with but was able to spin Flash II's 175psi compression Malossi 65 BBK installed without gaskets. Either your BBK has compression above that or there may be assembly issues - such as a tight case cover fit over the starter motor shaft due to inadequate spacing. Either way consider having a look at what's wrong. Could also be a cold, iffy battery.
