sym/bolwell jolie question

Post by hughjass63 »

Does anyone know what is the relationship between the sym/bolwell jolie 50 scooter and the honda dio? The sym jolie is sold currently in australia and are quite cheap secondhand. I read on one post of another forum that they are the same motor as a dio (AF18), but no one can confirm that. (see picture)

Any thoughts?

Her in the states thats a sym dd50 which is about the same as a af18 motor.the honda blocks and sym blocks are just slightly different but everything can be used on each other.so yes its like a dio motor.

The only thing different is the gear setup in the trans. The teeth count in the sym is different from the honda so getting gears you have to be careful.if you get the wrong gears you can go from 10to1 which is stock on those to 5.5to1 and then your screwed.you have to count gear teeth before buying to make sure your getting the right one your looking for.Other than that everything else on the block performance wise you can use thats for a dio.

DD50 has a zx trans, zx belt, zx boss/flyheel and stock gear is 11:1 . Intake port are little smaller than af18e/af16e.

Can use af18e/af16e trans on dd motor. , if you dont want get stuck on the road.

It is a second generation dio motor and very stable ride! :thumbwink:

thanks for the info. sounds like it might be a goer ig I can get one for a decent price. I would only get one if it would take a dio big bore. sounds like it will!
