Quick Help! Broken Key Cylinder!

I am working on my friends spree, and the key cylinder is busted. all the insides are gone. I have put the red and black wires together, and hooked up a good battery, and there is no sign of life at all. no lights, starter, etc... fuse is good. Please help me!

You might want to do a continuity check on the wires with a voltmeter..
the wires may be in bad shape

Check and make sure the red wire from the ignition is continuous from one end to the other.. I think the other end is by the battery? to be sure, wiring diagrams are in the spree manuals in this site
