'86 Spree Kickstart Question

Post by TWHansen »

I just installed the replacement kickstart lever on my '86 Spree, and it does not move.

I mean, this sucker isn't going anywhere, not even under the full weight of my generous frame.

Is there anything I should know about these things? Come to think of it, there is something of a rattly, grinding drivetrain noise on this thing that a friend believes could be the ruined internal parts of the kickstarter.

Any ideas?

Yeah, take the sidecover off and look inside. You need to disassemble, clean, oil it, and possibly replace some parts.

Kickstart

Post by KillinSpree »

I have the same problem cause i just replaced my kickstart to. I took out the gear and circular spring that spins on the teeth and played with it a little. What i did is pushed the kickstart lever down with the gear off than put it back on with the lever down and let the lever go and it shot back up to where its suppose to be on the half sprocket looking thing. now it works just fine no problems. thanks
