Has anybody ever put a Elite 80 engine into a Elite E/Spree

Has anybody ever put a Elite 80 engine into a Elite E/Spree

Post by vette66_00 »

I just acquired a 1988 Elite 80 and a 1985 Spree 50 both complete with out any plastics (well I got plastics but there cracked/broken and off the bikes) or paper work but got bill of sale for $50. Not to sure if they run yet but for the price I can make my money back quickly.

So on to the question. Has anybody put a 80 engine into a Elite E or a Spree. Im sure with the right welding it could be done but just wondering.

A pig as in heavy or just a poor preforming engine in general. Worse that a slightly modified E engine?

well the elite 80 is good for about 45mph, and its a four stroke. it's heavy and not exactly the fastest thing out there.

The 80 is truly bullet proof. There is a reason that the scooter was in production for 20 years.

It's not all about top speed. It is about reliability and longevity. I was considering buying a Ch150 for a swap for that reason.

I agree its not really about the top speed. But 45mph on a stock engine that takes no mix. This maybe something I will consider since my son (15) will be riding it around and we all know most kids don't pay attention to details like adding oil to a 2-stroke. And since I was considering letting him run the 48mm BBK with the gears at the end of the month (he will have his permit and will be legally able to drive a scooter) I may just find a together frame in need of a motor. Will se what I can come up with.

You def. can put the elite 80 motor on a spree. my friend took a chenghi 4stroke 90cc and put it on a spree with a bad motor. It took some fab work but thats the part of making it yours! and for the elite 80 it is a very dependable scooter. My 2001 elite 80 has 11,700mi and the only thing I do is change the oil and put new rollers and a belt every 3000mi or so. The motor has good torque with a 45mph speed.

The fab work will be super easy for me to do.

Now I need a Spree/Elite with a blown motor/ or no motor with good title for cheap. Hmmm looks like another CL ad.

Anybody in California got one?
