Lowered Moped Picture Thread

Post by C3Killer »

I am contemplating lowering my 87 Elite when my new engine comes in, but I need me some inspiration. If you have any pictures, preferably of Elites, Aeros and the like, lowered Ruckus's are a dime a dozen, post them here. There is a how to without pictures, so if you have a pictured how to post that up here to. Thanks guys!

Springs are unbolted and just sitting on the arms, I never rode it like this. If you take the springs out (like most here do), the undercowl sits at around 1/4-1/2" ground clearance :P The rear is stock height.
I need to snap a pic of me sitting on it. I cut about 1" out of my springs so they sit a little lower. Now they are bottomed out 90% of the time, but it rides smooth enough for me and doesn't sit low enough to destroy itself on the ground.

I found an OLD pic, this is the day I got it, 1st mod: slammed! Ended up raising it back up as I learned, suspension is nice on your frame.

Yeah, bottoming out your suspension on two little wheels can really cause you grief, as in

Glory is forever!"

Bear has some good points. I would add that if you lower it be sure to stiffen it.

My current ride height:

On 87's you have to trim the underside of your front panel if you go too low, mine is overly cut because it used to be much lower (like when the seat was pink). I have an undercowl for the extra low points, and all my friends that are "in the know" give me compliments on it constantly ;) It sits perfect for me, I can clear speed bumps and don't scrape it on anything I normally encounter. I just fear rocks.

After trolling this thread I am very interested in lowering the SR. Any recommendations?
