Aftermarket By-starter thoughts

Post by curtis »

What do you all think of aftermarket bystarters? Do they make one to fit a 1984 gyro? Mine does not work. If I want to try and run with it unplugged should it be complete with needle and all parts to make the carb function or will I not get it started without it working?

Aftermarket by-starters are typically junk. I've read alot of bad things about them here on the forum and I'm sure some people will agree that they are a waste of money

I've been using an Ebay bystarter on my Elite 80 for about 3 years now it fit without mod and never gave me any trouble. Your results may vary. I very rarely hear anyone say anything good about them, so I thought you should know.

What do you mean by simple and elegant. Also was the ebay by-starter aftermarket or orignal Honda?

It came in a small white cardboard box w/o any hint of Honda markings and there was no claim as to the origin of it so I presume it was aftermarket.
