KingJeff,

I ordered my Daytona fan thru a buddy in Japan. After shipping to me, it cost about $65. In Japan, you would pay around $45.

The link is right here:

http://daytonamotorcycleparts.com/shop/ ... 18884.html

(The Blue Daytona fan in the picture is for the "Live" ZX, and is too tall for the SR cooling shroud. I know because I ordered it first, and it will not fit. I still have it in the package in my parts stash.)

The RED fan is the second fan I ordered, and before I got to use it the need for money occurred and Wheelman mentioned wanting one, so I sold it to him. I plan on ordering another one, though. I like it just because it's red.

I always wanted to try a daytona fan, but I loathe the color red :P

Greetings:

I'd save your money for something more practical, Jon. I don't have any reason to believe it's not at least as good as the stock fan, but the "Lightweight" claim can be quickly dismissed with the gram scale. Yup, it weighs 7 grams MORE than the stocker.

I choose to believe it spins more air than the stocker, otherwise those Daytona engineers went to a lot of trouble for nothing. I have no evidence to back it up, either. In fact, the Daytona was bolted to the flywheel when I cooked my two (yes, 2... ) Ruima 51s. I have seriously considered swapping back to the stock fan, but I also like the red color in there. Dunno what Oh-Eight's problem with red is... :)

Brings up a good point, I think the engineers over at Honda would of at least put a decent effort into the design of the stock fan. I think I'll stick to stock.

Yeah, retain more heat in the motor. Great idea. The only time you want to wrap the exhaust is when the headers are enclosed in the engine compartment and not exposed to outside air or you are driving a turbo.

guessing maddog was thinking the wrap would act as a heat shield in front of the fan...while not initially a bad idea ... yes... very bad driving up engine temps

Ceramic coat the engine, then wrap the exhaust.
