86 Spree Re build and a noob question

Post by ALI Z »

I just finished rebuilding an 86 spree today, kicked started it, it starts and runs for a couple of seconds and dies, any suggestions? im thinking the bystarter/auto choke. also anyone have a chart of how the carb should be connected (where the hoses go and which inlets remain open)? couldnt find it in the service manual. thanks!

The fuel inlet (out side of carb body) runs to the upper nipple on the petcock.

The upper nipple on the intake manifold goes to the lower nipple on the petcock.

The lower nipple on the intake manifold runs to the oil pump.

cool thanks. fires right up but only stays on for about 4-10 seconds and shuts off as soon as i try to give it gas, seems like its choking, thats why i thought it may be the bystarter, what do you think? any suggestions would be very appreciated. thanks

Are the bystarter wires connected? Is the air box and filter in place and is it sealed up properly? These scooters are cold blooded and when first started. Start it without touching the throttle and let it run for at least a minute before you touch the throttle. It needs to warm up first.
